There is a tiny hole on the back side of the can (when it is bolted in, it will face the firewall). Almost in the middle

Rotella is likely the problem, it's like self changing oil in my truck, swapped to Delo and haven't burned a drop in 22XX miles.

Changing oils may make some difference...but it certainly wont make that much of a difference.

CDR and give it some AutoRx. If that doesnt do anything....time to start thinking about a rebuild.

Check compression maybe?

Good point. Auto-rx is very expensive for many of us, but it does seem to work very well. I am currently doing a treatment of auto-rx and am on the first 500 miles. I have always had to add exactly a half quart every 500 miles, and as of right now, it is still at the same level, which means it is no longer burning the amount of oil it used to. A new CDR did nothing for me. Still had a wet intake even with a new tuna can so I figure my engine had/has stuck piston rings that auto-rx is taking care of. Great product for sure!
