Once you get everything working properly all of your hard work will be well worth it. At least that is what I keep telling myself. LOL 6months later, and a lot more money than I had originally wanted to spend... it is almost done. Who knows if it will fire though. :dunno

Decided to go screw off with something less agrivating and something i have more control over. Finished these today.
My truck used to only have the F250 XL emblem on one side. Now I've got the whole set! :)

So it wasn't coming out of the oil filter mount area? Then it must be the rear gasket? The one that is easier to get to?

IT RUNS, IT DRIVES!!!

Well I finally got it running and driving! It was just as the sun was going down though so I didn't get any videos of it yet because I was really gunning to drive it while I still had natural light.
The oil cooler leak was from the large plug on the rear header. For whatever reason I couldn't get it out when I rebuilt it the first time but then after it had been installed it decided it was going to break loose. I put it on the bench today cleaning it and noticed the bead of silicone I had put around the plug was loose and when I pushed on it oil squirted out from under it. I put a 1/2" drive breaker bar on it and just pushing the lug into the slot turned the plug, I was like huh thats odd and grabbed it with my fingers and turned it 1 turn before it fell completely out. So I guess I found my leak. Reinstalled the header and it sealed perfectly. YAY!
The drive shaft is actually the correct length this time! YAY!
The fuel regulator leaks like a sieve so I need to put some different thread sealant on it because the standard white stuff took all of about 5 seconds for the diesel to bore a hole through.
The clutch pedal still has air in it but it works for now.
The my brand new pyrometer is broken apparently because it didn't read more than 75* the entire time I ran the truck, and believe me, I didn't drive it nicely.
I have a MAJOR vibration right around 55-60mph right when I need to shift into 5th. For a while I was wondering if it was the tranny, but I don't think it is. I don't see a single gear vibrating like that.

I saw about 2psi at normal cruise speeds but with the pedal to the floor in 3-4-5 it would spool up to about 10psi and pulled like a ***** ape. Engine temps stayed below 165* the entire time I ran it and oil pressure was right along those lines as well.

My tail lights don't work, which kinda has me baffled I put in a running light relay, but I'd think my gauges or any of that other stuff wouldn't light up either if it was that. I installed a new headlight switch so maybe thats causing it.

It's got some bugs to work out yet but it runs and I got to drive it for the first time in 9 months! :D

Your awesome glad you got the leak straightened out. The best stuff always has to throw you a few curves. I'm kinda superstitious. If everything goes without a hitch I get worried.

Thanks for the props guys. I was getting so depressed with how everything was going wrong with this project I almost walked away from it. But I needed to finish it because we have two other projects to work on.

About the moose pump, I'm disappointed with how little the smoke is that comes out of it but that could be because I haven't timed it yet and haven't installed an exhaust on it so its probably all dissipating before it gets out from under the truck. But just to give you an idea on the power. Well I don't have my seat bolted down yet and I did my best to keep it planted on the floor but I just couldn't do it. lol I even mashed on the pedal cruising at 55 in 5th gear the boost picked up to about 9psi and the seat laid back again lol. It's got a little power. haha

Congrats on getting her on the road! I'm green with envy over your boost numbers...can't wait to get my system taken apart!!

It's good that the issue was something simple...although I know how frustrating something like that can be. At least you didn't drop your water pump on your radiator -cuss

I'm a little worried that your having that kind of fun with a Moose Pump and a broken pyrometer. ;Really

Congratulations are certainly in order, but PLEASE be conservative until you get that fixed. It would be a major crime to read a post that reports pieces of piston in an oil pan, and that you need a new block.

Yea I hear ya Mel. I think I may have figured out my pyro problem, but I'll have to check it out tomorrow. As I've said, I've had problems with my running/tail lights. The front passenger ones work but none of the others do. Well judging by the fact that the main tail light/running light harness for the drivers front and complete rear of the truck run out of the drivers side of the firewall, and my pyro also runs out of that same location, I'm gonna bet I set my cab down on the harness and cut it off.

Well I got the lights fixed. I searched for hours for a broken wire or something else that could be wrong but couldn't find any. I was at a loss. I checked the running/tail light lead on the firewall side and it in fact didn't have any power but I couldn't find anything wrong with it up stream. So I did the only thing I could do, cut the wire and ran a bypass straight from the running light relay. They worked but still weren't as bright as I'd like, they may have always been that way, but I wanted to improve them. Discovered that there was a current draw running through the ground circuit. So I did what Ford should have done in the first place. Ran direct grounds from each light to the body. They are so bright now its a night and day difference.
I tested the pyrometer gauge and it appears that my probe must be faulty because the gauge behaves as it should. The lead wires are in perfect condition so it must be the probe.
I couldn't resist taking it into town to show all my friends so I didn't get any pics of it, but I'll get some tomorrow. And as soon as I get the pyro working properly I'll take a video of it as well.
