IT RUNS, IT DRIVES!!!
Well I finally got it running and driving! It was just as the sun was going down though so I didn't get any videos of it yet because I was really gunning to drive it while I still had natural light.
The oil cooler leak was from the large plug on the rear header. For whatever reason I couldn't get it out when I rebuilt it the first time but then after it had been installed it decided it was going to break loose. I put it on the bench today cleaning it and noticed the bead of silicone I had put around the plug was loose and when I pushed on it oil squirted out from under it. I put a 1/2" drive breaker bar on it and just pushing the lug into the slot turned the plug, I was like huh thats odd and grabbed it with my fingers and turned it 1 turn before it fell completely out. So I guess I found my leak. Reinstalled the header and it sealed perfectly. YAY!
The drive shaft is actually the correct length this time! YAY!
The fuel regulator leaks like a sieve so I need to put some different thread sealant on it because the standard white stuff took all of about 5 seconds for the diesel to bore a hole through.
The clutch pedal still has air in it but it works for now.
The my brand new pyrometer is broken apparently because it didn't read more than 75* the entire time I ran the truck, and believe me, I didn't drive it nicely.
I have a MAJOR vibration right around 55-60mph right when I need to shift into 5th. For a while I was wondering if it was the tranny, but I don't think it is. I don't see a single gear vibrating like that.
I saw about 2psi at normal cruise speeds but with the pedal to the floor in 3-4-5 it would spool up to about 10psi and pulled like a ***** ape. Engine temps stayed below 165* the entire time I ran it and oil pressure was right along those lines as well.
My tail lights don't work, which kinda has me baffled I put in a running light relay, but I'd think my gauges or any of that other stuff wouldn't light up either if it was that. I installed a new headlight switch so maybe thats causing it.
It's got some bugs to work out yet but it runs and I got to drive it for the first time in 9 months!
