I just went to do the BB mod and I found that my spring has broken. Weird. So I am thinking of putting in a bb just to try to make up the space. And get a new spring when I can. Thoughts!?

If the truck is running good I wouldn't do anything until I can get a replacement spring. The bb fuel pressure mod is overrated in my opinion.

I wondering if my recent hard start issues could be to blame too. I hate to crank for like 10-15 to start her and that's abnormal. Only been in the last month or so.

It's not exactly what you need based on your year but I believe the spring is the same (as in it will fit/work for your truck). I would contact them and find out if they have just the spring maybe from an open kit. I believe this might be the spring that sets pressure to 70psi already therefore not needing the BB.

or try this diagram; maybe it will get you a part number that the dealer can help with:
