I get a call today.......

B:hello this is.... from Blackstone labs about the oil sample you sent in for your 97 F350 7.3l turbo.....
Me: Ok yes that is me......

B:Well the lead was high at 72ppm!!!!

Me:Good nite!!!!!
You must be registered for see images

B:As it looks you may have bearings going out or already gone?
Can you add anything to explain this?

Me:I did run some filtered Used ATF..

B:Well that might explain it? I guess we will have to see the next sample?

I just can't wait to see the report? What do you guys think?

Is this your first UOA with Blackstone or anybody else?
What brand and weight oil was tested?
How many miles on oil?
Blackstone has NEVER called me in 14 UOAs over the past 6 years.

I've sent my v6 in but it has been awhile.
This is the first with this truck, not sure of total miles on oil,(po could have had it changed before I bought it?) It looked clean so I ran it 6k. They did tell me he could of added something to the oil? I use 15w40
It was a freek I just was thinking about the sample this morning and then they call? such service for $20:hail

If I were you I'd run some good ol' Delo 15W40 for 3K and send it in again to compare. Don't go wacky on your alternative fuel either. Can you find B20 locally? Motorcraft oil filters FL-1995 are $9.97 at WalMart.

Rule number one when you get a used vehicle:
Don't rely on PO's prior maintenance claims unless you have the paper work. Change every fluid and filter and re-start a maintenance schedule of your own.

got the filters from there, been buying Coastal 15w40 from advanced.
That was kinda what I thought about alt fuel too. I ran some veggie for the first 500 went up north and have only put D2 in it. cant find b20?:puke:

You would think that much would be goobered up around the mag drain plug :dunno

Why you running the Wally World oil cookoo...Switch to Rotella or Delo ;Sweet

Try this....add a can of Seafoam to the existing oil and drive for 200 mi or so, then drain, change filter and use a better oil.......use a magnetic pick up tool and place the end near the hole while draining and see what sticks :popcorn

ok here is something to think about
how did you retrieve your oil sample via dip stick or other means
because how ever you retrived it and something got contaminated in your oil sample that you sent off

Maybe time for some extra filtering - like a bypass filter system.
That is high on my list..

Using the wally stuff cause it is 8 something a gallon?
So is something in my report not right as far as the oil?

Both samples were done with a warm engine and half way through the drain. The first sample I have no idea what oil or additives were in there? i just know what I added after I bought the truck?
As far as make up oil, it does not use much maybe 2 qts in 3k miles?:dunno
