^^what he said, I was under my crew cab recently, dealing with the leaky steering box and I notice some dried red coolant coming from the thermostat area, I originally thought the same thing a head gasket leak on my engine I just swapped in, but nope just the coolant sensor next to the thermostat housing.

Well, it was definitely coming from the corner of the head. I've always been against miracle additives, snake oil and so on but after reading several posts on other forums and a couple around here, I threw some Bars in there and it fixed it. If the head gasket was truly blown, I would never have considered the shady approach but seeing how it was a leak from the corner of the head and apparantly pretty common, I decided to take the easy cheap route for now.
I still plan to pull this thing apart but would rather wait till the holidays are over and things calm down a little around here.

I just pulled a large heavy trailer yesterday, loaded down with five huge commercial swamp coolers and this thing ran great. Coolant overflow bottle has held the same level for three days now, with zero loss of coolant.

Great news update Kenny. Glad your running but knowing you have a big job ahead can be daunting. Enjoy the holidays and the work. It can be very rewarding.
