Yeah the weight is good for traction, but I usually have an engine sitting around I can throw in the back. It sits on the overload springs when empty. As now I have a idi on it, because I can't unload it yet.

Engine's, transmissions, firewood, lumber, and occasional scrap metal would be the main things hauled. Maybe a quads and dirtbikes in the near future.
But it will see gooseneck trailers now and then also.

As far as running lights, the type you linked are spot on.
I want these for work lights.

I can't remember which exact model. But just one made it seem like the roof of the store was ripped off, letting daylight in. LOL

i love pickup beds. i think western haulers look great but are pointless. slap on a 5th wheel and some fenders like a tractor or get a bed you can use.

pretty hard pressed to beat a 192 cubic ft enclosed stake body dump.:)
this one is as wide as a pickup bed is long.those may look ok and all,but when comes time to get some work done,an oem pickup bed just doesn't cut it.

I agree there.

But as far as wood beds, does anyone use a sealer/coating on them?
I always thought it'd be a good idea, but never seen it done.

I soaked mine in Thompson's Water Seal when i built it but havent done anything since. Seems to be holding up well. No rust either... :D

I LOVE my Western Hauler bed. That deck is heavy enough to where I can throw ANYTHING on it and not worry about damaging it, and it has just enough side to keep stuff from wanting to walk off teh sides, so it makes it easier to tie down. Only modification I made was to weld on a set of stake pockets for easier tie down points. I pulled enough flatbed big truck trailers to where I'm fully comfortable tieing anything down and that deck is fully part of teh gooseneck, it's one of the rare few that actually is rated for teh full capacity of the gooseneck ball You aren't going to bust any of teh hitch points on that thing. Ony bad points, they do really lousy paint prep at their factory, so eventually they need to be taken down to bare metal and repainted to take care of hidden rust issues , and their wiring sucks. Also they sell ones with tool boxes in front of and behind the tires, and some with boxes just in front of the tires for some reason. and theres empty space behind. thats what I have. It came on the truck, but if I had a choice, Id look for one with the extra tool boxes.

THe shape of those things make it fairly easy to climb up onto the bed, which is no small task for me considering I need a chair with a lift motor in it just to kick my hide up out of the thing LOL

What's the logic of the front lower air-dam looking thing? Aerodynamic improvements (of a brick?!?!) ?

Did you find a way to make it easy removable?

I would for sure do it on mine, but I'm often in bad terrain and would need it removable in a hurry.

Once I get the rest of the truck sorted out I plan on doing one as well with an easy removed option for that very reasson (I go offroading and ice racing occasionally), thinkiing just some permentantly mounted nuts on the bumper then some 1/4" bolts holding the darm on would work. 1/4" or 3/8" gun and itll be off in minutes figuring the bolts are easy to get to.
