Looks like a decent deal? Mine has failed to engage once or twice recently. Just looking to be prepared.

Just saw this one too. Looks like a true gear reduction starter.

Do you have any local guys that can rebuild it? We have a shop in town that rebuilds our starters and they last far longer than factory. Might be worth looking into.

Both pictured starters are a gear reduction starter. Typ4 knows of a very good high torque 4 kv starter. Sorry I do not have the name or part number.

Have been using DB Electric starters for a while. Have always been good. Like any starters, do not use if batteries are low since high amps will cook them. Spins fast.

We got one in our IDI, thing is a monster. Heads-up, longer than factory bolts will be needed, and it only uses 2 instead of 3. I suggest using flange-head bolts, Grade-8 is a must.
