Polished outer rear wheels with tires mounted on them. Tires were pretty easy to mount to the wheels with 2 tire irons. I thought they would be harder to mount but they went on to the wheels with very little prying. Used a bead seating air tank to start the process and then filled them with 120 # of air to seat the beads. Now I need to mount them on the truck and tighten up the lug nuts.
Took the first trip with the 22.5 tires last weekend. Handled well and rode nice. I am going to have to change the rear gear from the 3.38 back to the 4.10. The engine rpm is to low now with the taller tires and the manual transmission. When it is pulling the loaded trailer it does not have enough rpm to keep from pulling the motor down on anything more than just a slight grade.
The gear ratio swap has begun. To change the 3.38 ratio to the 4.10 ratio. I jacked up the truck, drained the gear lube and started to remove the driveshaft, axles and carrier.
Finished the gear install. Added fresh Amsoil Gear Lube and got the truck back on the ground. Took it for a tow with the trailer over the weekend with good results to report. The Rpm is back to the power range it needs to be in when pulling in Hi Gear. Now it will hold speed when pulling a grade on the freeway. Next step is to reprogram the computer to correct the Speedometer.
