I will see what I can do on pictures. Your pictures are much easier to look at.

I am using a model FS5306A transmission. 6 Speed W/O OD. It should cruise about 1900 RPM at 55 MPH with 3.38 and 8R-19.5 tires. It was at 2400RPM with the Allison AT545 Transmission.

Donor truck is now finished with the Allison AT545 installed, all the details hooked up and driveable. Looks original. Everything was bolt in except for the driveshaft and adding a transmission cooler. It is looking for a new owner.

Installing the Driveshaft after picking it up today. It was cut to fit and added the larger U-joint to fit the Fuller 6 speed output yoke. Then put the Exhaust system back together and hook the fuel tank crossover line back up. Then time to modify the shifter to fit the seat and dash. Transmission is about 16" farther forward in the chassis behind the T444E V8 compared to the DT466E inline 6.

Here is the new driveshaft.

The weekend included cutting the floor for the shifter. Fitting the Floor Mat to the shifter boot. Mounting the shifter and modifiying the Handle to fit the Driver and seat. The Clutch Safety switch is acting erraticly so a new one should be here to install tommorrow.

Took it for the maiden voyage Sunday afternoon, everything worked fine. I have pictures of part of the project on a digital camera. Just need to get them loaded on the computer and posted.

How will this swap give you a 500 rpm reduction? I know the 545 lacks a locking converter but you should not see more than 100 rpm of slip at that kind of rpm.

The converter in the AT545 is a non lock up converter and in my application and load has about 20-25% inefficency. At 55 MPH with the Automatic it is at 2350 to 2400 rpm. And that is after putting a tighter converter in the truck. The stock converter was about 150 rpm higher. The factory specs list a load limit of 22,050 # with the AT545 Transmission. With the tire size and gear ratio I have it will be at 1900 RPM @55MPH with the Manual transmission. Most of my driving is on the Interstate with a trailer so the Shifting will not be any major difference.

The converter reacts to input power and the load it sees. As either of those go up the efficency goes down. It may work fine for an Intown delivery truck or School Bus, This was a common Transmission in Busses for years. But for On the Highway pulling a trailer it is not the best choice.

This weekend will be the maiden voyage pulling the trailer. I am looking forward to seeing the results of a lot of work.

Here is the truck hooked up to the trailer for the maiden voyage.

Please do. How do you like the FS Eaton Fuller. I've purchased a FS-6306 for my DT466 project.

I went back and edited what pictures I have into the posts that they are related to. I spent more time working than I did taking pictures. I need to take more pictures to share when I am working on it.

I have been real happy with the transmission. It is basically the same as the 6306 that you have. Pretty easy to drive, shifts smooth. Reverse and 1st are very low so it is easy to move around backing the trailer and moving it around. Mileage has improved a noticable amount but I have not checked exact figures.

Next part of the project is to update tires with 255/70R22.5 tires and Alcoa wheels. It has 8R19.5 tires now.I will take more pictures while I am doing this part. With the increase in tire diameter I will most likely have to change the 3.38 rear ratio back to the original 4.10.

Changed the front and rear wheel studs to work with the thicker aluminum wheels. Pretty easy to knock out with a brass hammer and get started with the knurl on the new studs started with a brass hammer. Where the old knurl located them. Then pull them in the rest of the way with the lug nuts after freezing the studs to shrink them a little. Rear studs are twice as long as the original studs for the steel wheels. Pictures are of the old rear studs and the new longer studs. Front and rear hubs while changing the wheel studs.
