my air filter lid has a threaded place with a plastic cap on it. Can I put a restriction gauge on there? Any part numbers I can use?

yep, thats where it goes. I had one in that same spot but the hood insulation blanket must have been rubbing it because it fell off.( it did take a couple of years though). I jb welded a brass fitting in that hole and ran a hose to a guage inside the cab. I bought both types of guages off fleabay----Rob

Can't remember his name, but a guy here was selling the restriction gauges.

There's a thread in the marketplace.

Since we religiously use restriction gauges on the truck fleet, I put one on the 86. First dont be suprised if the sintered bronze safety filter in the port for the gauge is plugged. After resolving that I found out that even after 6 months, the restriction gauge either never moved or moved one click. I live on dirt road and drove around a landfill a lot. So I dont worry about a filter minder, they are great, work on a lot of things but not on these pickups.
