air filter plugging up!

My truck plugs up the air filter in 5000 miles! I do live on a dirt road and I'm in the desert but this is crazy. I noticed that it was smoking and down on power. Found the air filter plugged! I blew it out for now. Anybody make a prefilter? I'm not interested in a k&n under any circumstances.

Nanofibre dry filter with a pre filter from AMSOIL is hard to beat for long term severe service.

I have one on mine but your N/A? I don't think they make a stock application for the 6.9 IDI
OEM filter.

What do you use now?

My factory N/A filter had a foam prefilter. A lot of times at least with Wix they will list an "HD" filter for some applications, that should have the prefilter that you can then wash and reuse on the cheap filters.

If your filter is getting dirty, a pre filter is going to get just as dirty...

I say but a nice paper Filter and just blow it out every 3k and replace when needed

Or if your set on getting a pre-filter look into getting one of these maybe, I gave one on my jeep and my Airaid filter is as pink as the day I bought it

Donaldson makes a nano fiber filter for the stock application. EAF5187 is the part number. Amsoil uses the same media.

Best thing that I could think though would be to get a filter that has a fine rubber foam pre filter and oil the pre filter with filter oil. Its not going to catch everything but it would certainly help.

That and get a restriction gauge if you don't already have one.
