True that Eric my 93 feels like a brand new truck a 99 7.3 would be a great truck.
the 7.3 powerstroke actually does pretty good on wmo mixes. Just expensive fuel system if something goes wrong.
"seeking the simpler/less complicated life each day"...........and a newer truck

That's the key right there IMHO. Looks at how much a set of fuel injectors costs for an IDI. Then, look at how much a set of PSD or Durapooch injectors costJust expensive fuel system if something goes wrong.
And that's but one example...newer trucks are not immune from parts failures, and when parts do fail, it's going to cost quite a bit more to replace them. Add to that the sticker price, and that does a great job of keeping me away...
I've got the itch to get a newer pickup! Stop me, remind me why the IDI's kick butt.
Something is wrong with me I think, mine is really nice, and running WMO it saves me 7500 a year in fuel, but I still want a newer pickup. (must be the thin air in Colorado??)
Keep it coming guys. I need talked off the ledge!
The $$ I'd spend on a new(er) pickup could get me a new tractor I want. But ...... I....... cant........stooopppp.....thinkin........ about....... a .......... newer.......pickupppppppppp

Biggest PRO for me (out here in CA, at least).......NO SMOG!!!! I LOVE older Ford trucks (bricknoses specifically, but OBS is OK as well), so when I found out that I could own a bricknose in CA and not worry about smog, that sold me. Hvaing all that extra torque and MPG over its gasser brethren is just a bonus.

the 7.3 powerstroke does really good on 50/50 mixes (cold starting also) , and honestly it is pretty hard to go wrong with the obs strokes.
The glow plug system is light years ahead of these old idi setups, very trouble free. If I couldnt work on my own stuff, I would own a stroke, but since I can take apart and fix EVERY part on this old ford I will keep on driving them.
The smog checks on diesels in Cali are for 99 and newer, the OBS early powersrtokes are not tested at this time

I have had 2 'strokes, and 95 and then this 2003. I just put a full set of rebuilt injectors in the 03 and at $90 or so apiece I'm just not willing to try WMO in it. Also I run 85/15 WMO and regular gas rather than 50/50 and the 89 IDI loves it.
If you read around a bit on other Biofuel forums, TDS for example, you will find that guys are having a lot of smoking and injector coking problems with PSDs on WMO. DP Tuner has come out with a tune for WMO, but the jury still seems to be out on it. Just my 2 cents....
