Inspiring build!
I have a 69 Ranchero that I am looking to convert to an oil burner with a 5th wheel. Trying to come up with a decent chassis swap. I do not need FWD but would like good power and no engine management to deal with (that could change) Calling it the Rat-chero ;)

Are you wanting to tow a 5th wheel camper with this ranchero????? If that's what you are getting at.... BAD IDEA, that little light truck (even after a frame swap and adding a diesel) the trailer would be pushing you all over, the tail wagging the dog....... Another member wanted to do something similar but use a Bronco..... he was told bad idea......

Not trying to talk you out of doing the conversion, but I wouldn't use it as a 5th wheel hauler.......

Nope 5th wheel is just for looks really, might use it to move trailer in tight quarters but that's about it.

it was 150 bucks + shipping both ways.
i would have had at least 15 hours into just figuring out all the stupid stuff.

money really well spent.
lets just hope it gets back and everything is 100%

welp, this project just got pretty interesting.
a powerstroke will not be used for this.

I will be putting my spare IDI.
I may be also installing a 4 speed instead.

I need the powerstroke in my 02 build... I know she runs.
and I know the IDI runs. may turn into a weekend project.

too much going on already, why not more?

so ive finally spent some time on this today.
rolled her into the shop the other day,
finalized the front body mounts.
and today I got the 7.3 IDI zf5 and 1356 installed.
issues with the front driveshaft so I didn't get it installed, hopin I can get some help on this in the IDI forum.
gotta find a rear driveshaft and shorten it.
I plan on rolling with this project for the next 2 weeks or so, get the sheet metal work done, and then tear apart the free bronco I got the other day for the fuel tank and other items.
but shes on the path to enlightenment!!!

(insert the sound of a pretty penny being dropped into the toilet)

brake line kit
fuel line kit
wiring kit
all ordered

and since it wasn't a "bolt up and go" operation,
ive decided to delete a decade of work this morning.
the next job is to gut the complete floor and firewall out.
im either going to use a parts bronco I just picked up.
cut the floor out, or simply do new sheet metal.
either way, I need to redo the whole damn thing.
its ugly and rusty.
but then I can drop the floor to the bottom of the rockers
which amazingly are in great shape.
big plans my greasy brothers.
big plans,
and it will not be with a ATS 093.....
