I will attest, the new F-150's are nice. Dad just bought a 16 F-150 4x4 2.7 Ecoboost Supercrew XLT Sport. He got a good deal, plus he traded in his 12 F-150 Supercrew 5.0. I think it a 14k difference.

However, he and mom are both retired, EVERYTHING they own besides this truck is paid for. They live out in the country, and Dad is to the point he doesn't want to work on vehicles anymore, and he is at a point in his life, he had worked long enough to choose to buy new......

I understand where he is coming from, as he and I have been out in the 10 degree weather working on the "old car or truck" we had at the time..... I'm at the same point, as my newest car is a 2007 retired Cop Car...... but the family needs come before a new vehicle for me...... one of these days, maybe, but not right now......

This is exactly why I'm building my 10k truck.

    LOL

But seriously the reason for me to build rather than buy was that I could turn it off for a while if I needed to. Try telling the bank it's been a rough month so you won't be paying them the next couple payments. Not much of s sense of humor.

I'd rather take that 55k and have a 600ft lb idi that looks like it just rolled off the show room floor in 1983 :)

On second thought, tell your buddy he got a steal of a deal.

He could have bought an $87,000 Super Duty! cookoo

It's only money. Can't take it with you. He who dies with the nicest toys has the most friends at the reading of the will.

If you're paying $87K, you have a crappy dealer and/or are a sucker. LOL

There isn't anything you can't get in the lower sticker Lariat that is only available in a King Ranch or Platinum (you are paying for those tailgate trim plates - ugly in my opinion - that say King Ranch or Platinum and "special" color leather in the interior). Every other option can be added to a Lariat if ya want it. Plus, there is almost always incentives on these rigs.

I wouldn't know. I haven't ever bought a new vehicle and I don't ever plan on it. I've only bought a couple of cars off of a lot in my entire life. I thought all dealers were that way. :)

Pretty much anything over $10-$12K is out of my league.

I just saw an article this morning talking about how there is a surplus of new cars on the market right now. People simply can't afford them.

Both of my trucks are over 30 years old. I enjoy working on and playing around with these old IDI's. However, with my job, there are times where I can not be late or broken down for liability reasons. And, with ever increasingly unreliable rigs, this is becoming a concern. Work is so busy, a long list of other projects that need attention, and with a growing family, I don't have the time to work on these old rigs to keep them tip top everyday.

I sold some timber on my land and now have the money to buy a new rig. So I ordered one. This will the first new vehicle for me (at 41yo). Car sales is still just sales. No special skill required to know when someone is just trying to sell you something you don't need, or if you are buying something they really, really need to sale to you. No matter if you are buying a used chainsaw at the flee market or a new rig at the Ford lot. Doesn't take much experience to know if you're the lion or the lamb in the situation. But, you are one or the other. LOL
