I have a 97...great truck. I am looking at a 99 and wondering what are some things to look for in the SD platform?

It has 230k miles, CC, 4x4 (floor shift), 5spd. Oil pan looks good. Came from west coast so little rust (the bed wheel wells aren't even rusty)

Pretty much same things with any powerstroke.
Personally I wouldn't get one with the PMRs. If you do a little googling, should be able to find some info.

i could be wrong but i think they swapped from forged in late 99. check the production date.

Another good thing to check for is the 4X4.
If it has the "vacuum hubs." See if they both lock in. And don't just assume it's not vacuum because it still has the knobs, those are a backup.

It has the floor shift lever and manual hubs. Also it was built 8/98 so I guess it's an E99 for what it's worth....I guess it'll be fun getting the rights parts just like my 97 (built 12/97) LOL

I know, Dad had one. He got rid of it when the wheels started to rust apart and no replacements could be found. That wasn't the only issue, it was just the final nail....

Now he has a real nice 12 F-150 4x4 Crew Cab
