Thinking about a new project truck and wondering has anybody ever attempted this. I have a powerstroke but was just wondering how to regulate boost and all. Any ideas on it? :dunno:thumbsup:

I've seen it done in a magazine, the guy machined a big block intake and used a 8v71 blower. Wipple used to make roots type blower setups for the 6.5 Detroit in Chevy's so it's deffinatly possible. Might want to look at there kits for how to run it.

I used to have a GM 4107 bus with an 8V71 engine in it. Had a couple of extra blowers and sold them to a guy that used them on drag strip cars. Don't know what engine he used them on. They are a really noisy blower that I wouldn't want to put them on anything for street use. Those diesel's were noisy anyhow, but being in the rear of the bus and the insulation you couldn't hear them too loud inside the rear of the bus.

Yes...but not on the scale of using blowers in the thread title!
Those are "roots" style = helical rotors and they are HUGE...
besides the fact a lot of fab work would be required...same as adapting one for gas use...oil supply and return etc....

Those Whipple chargers are straight cut rotors = smaller case.

Plus...would you under or over drive the blower? :D

That would be pretty good. The stock M90 is what I am going to use for the time being. I have looked into the total airflow of the 6.9. It is only 20 cfms at redline over the stock SC engine from which the SC came.

Stacking blowers has been done before, the Audi Silver Arrows from the WWII era used compounded Roots blowers on their V12s and V16s. The Magnason blowers do have an internal bypass, and boost can be regulated by pulley size.

IIRC the smaller the pulley the more the boost so just put what ever pulley is handy on it and size it from there, make darn sure you have a boost gauge, and a way to blow off excess unwanted boost

Larger crank and smaller blower pullies are how you add boost. I think I will be okay with mine at a stock setup. I will have a pyro to measure it but with eatons, after 8 psi, you really need an intercooler. Up to and under that, they are pretty good.
