Hey everyone new here. I just recently inherited my dad’s 89 350 with a non turbo 7.3 5 speed. I unfortunately don’t know anything about them so any help would be greatly appreciated as I can’t get rid of it because my dad loved it. I don’t know a lot about it but I do know that glow plugs and solenoid fuel pump filter clutch pressure plate master cylinder and slave cylinder have all been replaced. I know that the wiring is a mess so definitely want to address that. What else should I focus on? I would like to eventually be comfortable enough with it on small road trips. Thanks in advance.

Fuel filter would be first on my list. If it’s starts and runs well just drive it for a while and see how things go. Sounds like you have a gem.

An oil change is a good place to start and I'll second the fuel filter, old batteries can ruin your fun too. Drive it and see what's wrong if anything.

I really do appreciate it and I know the fuel filter was replaced. I am having trouble with cranking the batteries just don’t seem strong enough but once you hook up cables she fires up and runs good

Yup batteries and cables. I actually installed a tender under the hood with a pig tail just like the block heater. That way if my truck sits for a week in the winter the battery’s are fresh and ready to crank.

Diesel fuel can grow algae if it sits. When I got my '93 Cummins it had green pond **** looking stuff in the fuel separator. (I was running for a month like that when I first got it.) Power Service Bio Kleen biocide is a good additive to old fuel.
