Has anyone swapped a 7.3 idi into a van? If so is there anything that will cause me any problems? I figure it should be pretty straight forward. I have the complete donor truck.

Haha I guess you weren’t aware they came with them from the factory with diesels?

Exhaust manifolds and oil cooler are completely different, among other things

I know they came factory with them, lol. Was just wondering if there were any differences between the two?
Thanks for the info on the oil cooler and manifolds.

The only difference is I discarded plates that were between the frame and motor mounts on the 460. And the trans bell housing is different, so the trans comes with the IDI.

The van IDI's had a different oil cooler mount, motor mounts, and fuel filter head. Other than installing those parts on a truck engine the biggest consideration would be installation. The Ford vans are body on frame so the best method would be to lift the body off, though that obviously requires a substantial lift. As for the filter head I would simply install a emote filter head on the frame rail. My two cents.
