Have an oil leak that goes on my starter and right near the fly wheel just wondering if this is a common leak that you guys know of leaks down on the exhaust right under the oil pan
If it leaks onto the starter it's most likely coming from your cdr( tuna can, ) behind the intake, being over 20 years old the seals or hoses are probably bad.
Anytime oil or fuel leaks into the valley pan under the intake manifold it will drain out thru the oem passage designed into the back of the block. This goes for any idi engine be it 6.9 or 7.3. It can ONLY drain down the passenger side of the engine over the starter. Fuel leaking from a return line will mix with oil or dirt and then it appears to be an oil leak when its just a fuel leak. Hard to be sure. So its a good idea to really look closely at the top of the engine for fuel leaks. Under most injection pumps is a drilled weep hole designed just like the weep hole in a water pump telling you the seal has failed. Also the drivers side of the injection pump has a plunger seal that can leak causing large fuel leaks. A piece of a paper towel placed under the pump will usually let you know whats leaking. Hope this helps track down your leak.
Ok guys I really was looking tonight no oil by the cdr in the back only a little by the oil sensor plug behind the glow plug relay fuel lines are good and new valve covers not leaking looks the majority of it is by the power steering lines and still by the starter. I know you mentioned lines or seals on the cdr can you see oil when these are bad as I saw nothing around it. Thanks!
