7.3 no start

Well,title says it all.Unknown history on truck.Purchased sitting with a no start situation.Installed new fuel filter,8 new glow plugs and installed a known good inj pump.Wont even attempt to fire.So I ran balancer to tdc,pulled cover and find that the doel pin does not align with casting mark on it housing.Bolts on ip cover,and cover itsel appear to have never been disturbed.At a loss

Not a good picture,but dowel is about 1 tooth above center of casting mark,and bottom ip bolt not exactly 6 o'clock.

And as you can see,grease intact on ip cover bolts.. again appears to never have been Disturbed.

I have a replacement 1994 turbo engine,this was just a last-ditch effort to try to figure out what was going on before I change that thing out.

None..ever.. I did put a clear plastic bottle on number 1 injection line and it is discharging.

And a new fast starter,2-new somewhat expensive 1000 cold cranking amp batteries..

No smoke at all out the tailpipe.. and a small shot of ether.. nothing

I don't know if it makes any difference,but I unhooked the glow plugs before using the ether so they were not both in use at the same time

Yes, it is clicking. I even replaced it with a known good one..

Yes, I hear a very slight clunking sound when it is rolling over.it sounds like it's coming from the front of the transmission.
