Yes ranger was a package on the older trucks before ford did the mini trucks. I have no idea what the package was but have seen plenty of 70's and a few early 80's trucks with the ranger badge.

Yes, Ranger and Explorer were both packages on the Full Size Pickups.

We had a 73 F-250 Explorer, I was s 2wd Regular Cab Long Bed, had a 390/C6, Had a cloth seat a stripe along the rockers, factory a/c front bumper guards, rear step bumper, the large mirrors, not towing mirrors, bur they were nice sized mirrors, the bedside tool box and the rubber molding inside the dent (what makes them a dentside). Not sure what the package brought, but for a 73 it was fairly nicely equipped.

Yeah I don't know what was in the package either. Seems like someone was telling me there was also an Explorer package. Any truth to this? Or were they making it up?

Add a second battery. You wont need any other heating devices to fire this beast up.
Another tip for any Cummins BA, BT engine. Give it some fuel when cranking it over. Hold the go pedal about half way until the engine just about starts. Let off the go pedal when it does start.

Are you running the 6.0 starter? I'm running a brand new 6.0 starter on my 6BT swap with a single battery and it does the same thing yours does. I replaced all the cables with brand new cables and the battery is brand new. It helped, but it's still really, really lazy. The weird thing is the Dodge I took the engine out of I've owned for 13 years. It never did this when it was in the Dodge. It spun really fast and always started on the 2nd revolution. Every single time like clockwork. In all the time I owned it I never waited for the grid heater. I just hit the starter and it always lit.

I'm wonder if it has something to do with the 6.0 starter but I don't know anyone who's done the same thing.

interesting info. I'm running the 7.3 starter. I was actually able to get it to start first try at 19° the other morning, but it was really lazy, almost didnt.

Now that I've added a 2nd battery, it probably wont get below 35° all season. LOL

It's colder than 35 here right now Rob.

Right! it was 34° this morning and it lit up like a rottweiler ready to pounce. I never had many issues till it got below 20° though. So when that happens I'll do another blind video and see how it goes. Based on this morning I'm cautiously optimistic.

It'll be too dark for a video, but I'll be turning her over at 6am tomorrow. We shall see!

I go out and forget to wait on the glowplugs in the tdi. Lol
I guess it's a weird habit. In my truck, I mostly always wait for the light to go off.
