You may not need bigger than 37's but it'd be nice to overcome some of the low gear ratios if you take it on the highway. 6.72 is plenty low.

If your looking for a deuce I used to look around on govliquidation.com A lot of them went for like 1500-2000 I think. I haven't been on there in a couple of years. Heck with what your after you might as well just use a deuce no sense in pulling the motor and axles from a deuce and putting them in a truck.

I like the deuce and all but my truck is in excellent condition and I just want a new motor and tranny. My truck has no rust and good panels. I don't plan on lots of hiway driving the most would be a three hr trip to my brothers in Michigan.

You may not NEED larger than 37's. I was just saying the axle is overkill only for 37's. Dana 60 could handle 37's...
But also for ground clearance in the mud, bigger tires will keep your axle clearnace higher.

Well I found a few nice deuces for around $1500. Some real nice one with the wide tires and winch for double that or more. We will see what happens.

Just a FYI. Most Deuces do NOT come with titles, which means you can NOT register them for the road. Just something you would like to know.

And a certificate of origin is NOT a title

uhh... why not just put the ford body on the duece frame? lol be ezier than putting all the duece running gear into the ford.

Best idea so far is putting the Ford body on the deuce. But will it fit? What about the rear axle coming out? Or custom bed and leaving both axles?

nah. bob it and put a single leaf in the back instead of the walking beam setup it has now. put the cab on it, then the bed. then place the rear axle in the right spot to put the tires in the wheel wells. use a set of front axle springs and mounts to put it on there.

no matter what u will need to make cab mounts for it.
