Not sure on the T-Case.

I have driven a medium-duty truck, a 1981 single axle IH dump truck (Ex ILL State Truck) with a 3208 n/a and an Allison Automatic. Is not bad, it had alot of low-end grunt. Truck was great to plow snow with. But it was not a speed demon. I think that truck is still In-Service.

One other funny thing about that truck, which has nothing to do with the engine, but the accelerator pedal got much stiffer and harder to push at speeds above 45mph. I do not think before we bought it it had ever been over 45....... I know it will do 65-70, with the mud flaps flying back....... It was still orange, and looked just like the ones that were still in service. If you went throught an area with "state guys" you got a really funny look if you were clipping along. I think most thought something was wrong or had happened.

I know in the 70's before any pickup had a diesel option. Cat had a kit, that through an authorized dealer, bring in your pickup, they would remove the gas powerplant and replace it with a 3208. I have heard of a couple around my area.

I find that hard to believe.

I have seen this truck in person http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PDq2QGFCWCs&feature=related
and the doghouse necessary to have the 3208 in the truck is so big ,one drag seat is hard to fit in the cab. O and did i mention the COMPLETE interior is removed as well to make room

Divorced NP205 comes to mind for a Transfer Case...

Or, find out what transfer case they use in the Deuce and a Half's...maybe you could use that Fuller 5 speed and Transfer case. There was an article in one of the 4x4 magazines I read online that had a Cummins 6BT with an SAE bellhousing with a Fuller 5 speed out of a Deuce and a Half. Lemme find it....cookoo

Got it. I thought it was a Cummins, thought wrong! Still an interesting read about the transmission though...http://www.jpmagazine.com/techarticles/drivetrain/154_0509_spicer_3053a_transmission/index.html

I so thought about using a deuce motor. I know they don't make loads of power but thats not what I'm woried about. I just want something strong and reliable. I have a lots of experience with the deuces and love them. I try to find a whole set up.

Good read man. Good read. I'll look into finding a deuce. I know a few folks that can help out. I would really like to find a turbo deuce motor. If I get real wild I might just swap the axles over to.
