I'll Be reading this post when you get some info, similar to what I want to do one day with my bronco! What axles are you putting in your f150?

A lot of fabrication and head scratching to get that leaf sprung dana 50 into a f150 frame. I think I would try the f150 axles for now, I think a couple other people have run the f150 axles under a idi before. Haven't heard of any catastrophic failures. But a truck like this would still be relegated to f150 chores, not f250/350 hauling.

A low numbered f150 gear would match up nicely to the idi and give pretty good fuel mileage.

They make a Kit that you weld/bolt on and the Dana 60 bolts right in place and where the truck is already ttb the Dana 50 ttb will bolt right in And the whole purpose is a 3/4 ton ext cab shortbed idi

I've heard bolting lift kits/new suspending to a frame is better than welding because it hardens parts of the frame and make it more prone to cracking or breaking in those areas, I maybe wrong but I remember someone telling me that before, buying a parts truck f350 might be cheaper than buying just the Dana 60 front end, around here they go for like 1200$ and you can find parts trucks with a Dana 60 for less than that sometimes. Then you would have your suspension and other parts needed also. Just a thought

I wouldn't touch the suspension until you either had to, or had the parts you wanted.
kits are expensive, and cheaply built.
I would rather do my own RSK with a D60.
my last one cost me right around 100 bucks and 10 hours of work.

remove gasser mount pedestals.
install diesel lower engine mount plates.
drivers side will have to be modified a touch to cover the oil filter access hole.
make sure to remove the pinch weld from the firewall to the floor for future turbo upgrade

its pretty simple actually.

For a f150 frame? I know they make them for a f250/350 frame.

Sky manufacturing does an f150 take retrofit kit. Pretty nifty!

If you find the coil buckets from an 05+ super duty, they bolt in and you can have a coil d60
