I’m looking at getting a new set of MTs for my 90 250 as I’m currently running 20 year old snow tires with the studs popped out and there about bald. Makes me a little nervous going down the road. Would like to put 285 75 16 on but don’t know if they will rub. Any body have experience with this body style and that size tire. Even if they don’t rub are there any big cons to running 33s on it? Any info is appreciated. Just wanted to know if I’m to buy 285 or 265s

If that's the same body as mine ('93 F-250), the stock tire size was 235/85R16. But it had old 265/75's on it (almost exactly the same diameter) so when I got new tires, that is what I kept and they don't rub at all. Don't know about 285/75 though, sorry.

Mine was an f350 and it fit 35's except for the front bumper.

If you have 6" wide wheels, I would do the 235/75r16 or 255/85r16. The 285 should go on a 7" minimum.

I do have 7 inch aluminums but that was concern of mine. Manufacture said 7 1/2 minimum but don’t think a halfe inch will hurt me that much

You would be fine. The problem is that some tire stores won’t mount them if they’re not in spec. That’s usually the chain type places, but just be warned.

I’m running 295/75/16 (same width just a little taller) on the 16x7 wheels and I’ve never had an issue.

I ran 35x12.50x17s on my stock f250 because they came with rims I bought. The height was no problem, but I had to shim the bumper and they rubbed the leaves anyhow. I was gonna swap out for 33s, but never got that far before selling the setup and returned to stock. It really messed up the gearing with my 3.55s.

How do you go about moving the bumper out? Unbolt it and bore some holes through some spacers and put it back on?

Washers.... Or change to a winch bumper with more clearance.

I have a 4.10 rear dif. Haven’t done much research on it but do you think I should regear it to 4.56 When I calculate my new tires in that’s what it should be just about. Any opinions?
