1998 dodge durango

I just bought a 98 durango 4x4 with the 5.9. It was missing on number 5. I put new plugs and wires on it today so that's fixed. When I went to go start it all i got was a click ( like a bad starter ). I changed the battery because it was acting weak .... It srarted .... Shut it off and .... Click click click ... Battery is dead again. So I hooked cables to it for 45 mins. Still won't start and battery won't take a charge just like the first battery. What do I need to look at to find out why its killing the battery and zapping them to where they won't charge ? I was thinking maybe the alternator is putting out to much ? Please help asap

Could be your PCM took a crap like mine did. mine was missing on cyl 1 but the battery was fine. replaced with an new (reman) pcm and all was good.
