That sounds correct. Was just curious what you were using.

I bought the truck knowing that I would have to rebuild the transmission. The original had grenaded the planetaries. After I got the transmission fixed it worked fine until it didn’t. Someone else told me that maybe it’s a shifting solenoid that didn’t get replaced during the rebuild, but I don’t know.

It doesn’t show me anything as far as codes. It even had a check engine light the other day because I unplugged the map sensor, but it didn’t record any codes. That seems weird to me but I have very little experience with these trucks so maybe it’s normal. You should get a stored code if the solenoid pack has failed.
You could pressure test the tranny to see whats going on.

It holds first and second only but when I shift into drive it will only actually go into third if I accelerate really hard and then let off of the throttle, but a soon as I hit the throttle again it shifts right back down into second. Since it's been doing this I've never gotten it into over drive. What happens when you manually shift the transmission from 1,2 D, and OD while accelerating. Does it hold each gear until you manually upshift?
I'll check it out tonight and see. How difficult are they to replace if needed?Fords are absolutely notorious for the range selector switch. Also know as the neutral switch. Your E4OD is on the back of the transmission. A goofy shifting problem would make me look at that first.
500 miles on a rebuild and a 99% chance the old switch was used. It could be simply out of adjustment and at least looking to see if the bolts are still tight might be a very good place to start.
