I need to change the frame on my 95 F-250 4x4 due to rust. I bought another frame but it was from a truck that had a gas motor in it (i don't know what size). My question is, is the crossmember / cradle for the engine the same or does that have to be swapped also?

Thanks

Shouldn't have to worry too much as 460, diesel, and 351w came in the same frames.

Personally, have seen the pickup frames fold up from hard use, so I would look for a cab & chassis frame if you couldn't care less about the pickup bed.

Thanks for the reply. I already have a frame in good condition, not easy to find in the rust belt of NJ. The engine crossmember on the 7.3 looks like it sits lower /deeper than the gas job. I could be wrong, it's hard to get good measurements while the 7.3 is still together. I was hoping to get the new frame blasted and painted before moving everything over, I'd hate to do all that and find out I have to change something.

Yes the cross member sits lower on the diesel. You’re going to need to strip both frames and see what is different and move it over.

I am fairly sure that you just need to grind the rivets and remove the gas motor mount towers from the back of the k member. I also believe you will need to drill holes to mount the diesel mount plates to the k member.

My best recollection from my auto-wrecking days is the F250 frame/crossmember difference stems from the gvwr. Above/below 8500#.

Say you have a 5.0L or the semi-float rear axle, then it's a low GVWR. The diesel fits the high GVWR frame.

I have a spare '94 frame chunk from a diesel if you need a pic or particular measurement.
