Added a turbo to my n/a 89 7.3 off a 94 idi, I finally have everything done thanks a lot to typ4! I still wanna change a few things though, my transmission dipstick tube is a piece of rubber hose fitted to the same length as the original dip tube but I'd like to have a lokar style type design some kind of braided line or a real tube that won't melt on my up pipe, lokar doesn't make one I'm curios to see what people with the e4od are doing about this dilemma? I also would like new ideas about my cdr/ road draft tube, currently I have a 1/2 hole in my valve cover with a nipple welded with a hose ran down. It drops oil when I park and I'm sick of people telling me my trucks on fire lol anyone have a 94 valve cover for sell or ideas to change? Last question is I'm pretty sure I have pre turbo exhaust leaks because my firewall is spotted black and I can't build more then 5 psi of boost unless I floor it and it spools around 2500, I tryed plugging the wastegate for more boost and all I've seem is 9 floored, there's no gaskets from the crossover pipes to the manifold and the y pipe and up pipe are slip fit, are u guys using some kind of exhaust copper rtv or epoxy to seal up your exhaust because mine is definitely not sealing and probably killing boost. I will say though turbo swap was night and day power with A dps ip that I need to figure out how to time because my egts are through the roof. I also arced my glow plug controller with my downpipe during the turbo swap and my wait to start Light won't come on or are my glow plugs working, should I just replace the controller and relay?? Thanks for any input!- Steven

People with the auto and turbo are using the factory dipstick tube AFAIK.

Can't remember, but may be a fuse to the glow plugs.
Also could've just fried the controller.

Diagnosing is the first step to fixing it.

I couldn't get the banks 3" downpipe to fit unless the tube was removed, I even put my truck on a lift and had friends helping. In the cab there's a fuse for glow plugs and tach but fuse didn't pop . Ill check out wrecking yards for cheap controller to test.

Not really the way to get on the good side of a guy that posts a lot of good information just for the benefit of others as well specifically towards one's problem. "Just sayin...."

If worse comes to worse you could probably bend the current dip stick tube if your carefull not to kink it. Some one did it on mine when it still had a slush box but it was ugly and hard to check. May want to hit up some one doing a trans swap that has another ford factory turbo or a real 093 kit if you can't locate one in a wrecking yard. Not sure if the psd e4od tube would work or not, might go eye ball one of those if you hit the wrecking yard to see if there's a chance.

Bottom line is the mistake was already made and I already know to never do it again I just didnt need another reminder of should of could of.

I found a gp controller for 40 bucks at the wrecking yard, quick easy swap and now my WTs light is back and now starts very quick.

Yeah I started bending my original dip tube and it's definitely not very easy I like your idea of a PS dip tube Ill have to track one and compare the two.

Leland did u custom make your gauge pillar? I have autometer ultra lights but I cannot find a premade pillar already made for the idis, why does everyone call the e4od the slush box? My tranny shifts hard no problems yet....?

Have a OBS style truck, they're ready made for them.
The term slush box isn't specifically endeared to the e4od, but auto's in general from all the fluid 'slushing' around in there to make it work.
Stick around a while, you'll see they mean well.

It's my first auto tranny truck, if my e40d fails I def will zf5 swap then my dipstick is a 3/8dr ratchet instead of a tube
