1984 ford f250 front brake questions...

i was going to go in and to some break work on my truck and well when i took the tire off the front of truck the brake rotor seams to be behind the front hub..... is this a normal thing or did the previous owner screw stuff up?????? i dont have pictures at the moment

I am assuming you mean the brake caliper, not rotor? If so yes, they are mounted behind the hub. I don't believe there would be anyway to mount them any other way. :dunno

  1. Jack up the front of the vehicle and support it with jackstands. Remove the front wheel.

  2. Remove the caliper assembly and support it on the frame with a piece of wire without disconnecting the brake fluid hose.

  3. Remove the hub and rotor assembly.

  4. Install the rotor in the reverse order of removal, and adjust the wheel bearing.

Use a hammer and a light chisel and tap the dust cap off the hub and rotor assembly

Remove the dust cap to expose the hub bearing retainer and nut

You must be registered for see images attach


Remove the cotter pin from the retainer

You must be registered for see images attach


Remove the the retainer to expose the nut

You must be registered for see images attach


Remove the retaining nut

You must be registered for see images attach


Remove the outer bearing retaining washer

You must be registered for see images attach


Lift the hub and rotor assembly off the spindle

You must be registered for see images attach


Carefully pry out the grease seal from the hub and rotor assembly

You must be registered for see images attach


Driving out the inner bearing from the hub and rotor assembly

it is a 4x4 sorry that i didnt mention that so i have to pull the hubs the bearings and every thing else out from the inside?????? sounds like alot of dicking around....... damn engineers

More like only way possible to fit an 8 lug pattern on a rotor in a 16" rim on a 4wd drive hub. Unitized hubs did not exist yet.
