I got a 16-567 Turbo and 567 power assemblies are getting very scarce I know you can run 645 kits if you remove the turbo and install blowers yielding the same 2300hp. My question is if you run the 645 power assemblies with the turbo will the engine blow up? If so what’s the weak point? Are we talking a block failure or crank failure? Or just shortened bearing life if so by how much?

I think that you have a 16 567 D3, 567 power assy. Are not as plentiful as they were but you can install 645 power assy. in any EMD block after ”C” type and you can use with the turbocharger you will not need to change to roots blowers.

The lower end of your engine will handle anything you can build, the rods , rod bearings, and mains are the same on the 8 cylinder blown engine to the turbocharged 20 cylinder 645E3B with 3600 hp
A 16 567 D3 turbocharged engine was rated at 2000 hp and the engine blocks are all welded steel with cast frame work for main bearing on the crankshaft
