03 rough idle now don't wanna start

friend has an 03 6.6 he changed the fuel filter primed it till no bubbles came out just fuel. He drove it for quite a while and the idle was rough i think the term is "hunting" and now it is hard stating. is it just air he didn't get out of the system. or something else, i told him hes having trouble simply because he didn't buy a cummins but i'm not sure you guys will agree with me

A simple way to find out if it's air getting in the system is to pump the primer a few times before starting. Don't open the bleeder, just pump it and see if it builds pressure and helps it start quicker. If it helps then it's an air problem, if not it's something else.

well he said he bleed it again and thinks he got more air out seems to run fine now. but to be safe i think he should trade it in for a dodge

Auto or manual? My boss had a 6-speed that keeps "breaking flywheels" says the dealership. The computer goes by the flywheel for reference.
