Yeah getting pistons for a 6.9 right now is about impossible. I don't know if anyone will restart production of them either. I have a feeling the 7.3 is going to be the same way before much longer.
I don't know if its lack of demand for them or what. I notice pistons for a lot of newer diesel...
Ive always double dosed with howes for the lower temperature recommendation and never had a problem even when it was below zero.
I will say this though it made my truck start noticeably better in the cold. I thought it was just a coincidence but several times after running out of it the truck...
Remanufactured power steering pumps suck! I went through 3 on my old F150 before I got a decent one. You would be better off using a good used one than a reman.
Fleet charge is low silicate green that is already pre charged with SCA.
Just so you understand there are two types of sca and they both require their own test strips. There is DCA-2 and DCA-4.
I would have just left it. Its not like you were that far above the full line to make a difference.
Also for reference the capacity of these trucks with the stock filter is 10 quarts. With the longer powerstroke filter its 11.
Ive never been pleased with the way fluid film aerosol applies. Using the bulk product from a spray gun designed for it works much better. But as I mentioned in my previous post wool wax is a step above fluid film. I actually used to mix bar and chain oil with my fluid film before spraying it...
Fleetguard, Donaldson or even Fram
Lets talk about Fram for a minute. Probably the most hated filter brand on the internet. They had a quality control issue years ago. Over 10 years ago someone posted a video of one of their filters on youtube with major quality control issues. Unlike purolator...
No longer beloved to me and hasn't been in years. Cut a few open and see if you find torn pleats. Purolator makes most of the motorcraft filters and their quality control sucks. Ive had several motorcraft filters here with torn pleats. Whats that mean? Unfiltered oil bypassing the filter going...
Would be cool if you are talking about using the stock filter setup. The donaldson power core filter is the best air filter there is hands down in terms of airflow and good filtration.
Condenser not accumulator. The newer trucks had a little bit more efficient condenser design but they have after market ones now that are the same. The factory style was a serpentine style condenser. The newer trucks use a parallel flow condenser. Rock auto list both styles for your 86.
Really...
Install and after market gauge with an actual read out. The factory gauges on these trucks are just glorified idiot lights. So long as there is 7 psi of oil pressure they will read "Normal"
Diesel Rx plugs are junk but you should be attempting to start the truck when the light first goes out. If you are waiting for the light to stop flashing on and off the cylinders will have cooled down.
