very very easy solution to these type of issues, install a fuel pressure gage = measure pressure going into the ip.
i consider this a mandatory mod to all diesels basically, even newer ones.
if good pressure, then the pump has an issue. but more likely another fuel supply issue.
blackstone can definetely put this to rest, but i already am convinced what caused it looking at the pics.
veggie is wonderfull in a way, but very evil in others. it reacts in so many ways to metals its unreal. then you have the poly issue, and another weird one is that it creeps through the...
i do not think this was caused by lucas.
what i see in the pictures is classic polymerisation caused by vegetable oil. it happens when unburned veggie gets past the rings and down in the oil. the mix with heat causes this chemical reaction.
was this engine run on veggie ????
granted mine are on a different motor, isuzu 7.1 mechanical injection 95 vintage, have 310k on them now. still no smoke and running just fine, good mileage too and easy cold start.
nope, but many other diesel cranks. they are the strongest one can find vs gassers.
seen broken aircraft engine cranks as well, and they are huge.
its very rare, but they can break.
neh that cant break a crank, since the rods would punch the block first if caused by low no oil.
cranks have major torsional forces to deal with, one minor defect in manufacturing and it wont hold, its rare but cant be ruled out.
