Miss at idle
Take a guess at a side, pull the valve cover and unplug the injectors one a time. When you unplug one that the motor does NOT stumble, that injector is not firing. Simple thing to check would be to remove the Solenoid (4 Torx screws) and see if the armature plate is loose. This does happen, but...- DZL JIM

No clue. That's one of the issues the poly tank guys want to know. If they are really the same tank, not sure why there are 3 part numbers for that block of 10 years. Frames, as far as I know and from what I have been told are all the same right up to the SD's in '99. :dunno- DZL JIM

Yes, that's the tank we are trying to get the poly tank company to make. The Bronco tanks were narrower, I assume for a reason or they would have just used the F-series tank and made it larger... :dunno- DZL JIM

That was Dan something, he cut the rear crossmember out totally, too, to make it fit. Not sure I would have done that. Maybe the Excursion and F-450/550 have the same space in the frame for that big tank, that the OBS does not???- DZL JIM

NO! We're talking about a 38 gallon REAR tank, plus you'd have your front tank, either 18 or 21 gallons depending on your model.- DZL JIM

Hmmmm. This LMC Bronco page only shows the '32 gallon', though everyone else calls it 33 gallon. http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/fd/full.aspx?Page=116 No mention of the 38 gallon for Bronco, only F-series. I have a Bronco 33 gallon tank so I don't need any info, thanks. The Bronco tank...- DZL JIM

No, the Bronco tanks were 33 gallon. The 38 gallon is an F-series tank. Must be either: 1) An option at the time for one of the packages. OR 2) The tank makers today are making it an optional replacement. I'm leaning more towards 2) since there is no consistant data.- DZL JIM

This is the tank, size is 34-1/2"W x 13-1/4"H x 26-1/2"L. Said to be the exact same size as 'our' -94 - '97 trucks rear tank...- DZL JIM

Yes, I didn't think about the narrower frames, but those tanks would still bolt up OK. Narrower is better than wider. :D Could you get overall dimensions of that rear tank? Thanks.- DZL JIM

The Bronco tanks were 33 gallons, I have on in one of my trucks. They aren't an exact fit, but fit OK. Problem with getting a new tank is who's going to pay for it? I know I want a poly one but I can't dish out $200 for a tank to send to someone else AND pay for a poly tank when they become...- DZL JIM

Supposedly the '87 - '89 F-350 trucks came with a 38 gallon (maybe larger?) rear tank. We are working with a poly tank manufacturer to replicate these tanks from poly to run in our Diesels and add extra capacity. They said they have a gap in their schedule and are seriously considering making...- DZL JIM

Granning Air Suspension
There are 'better' options out there IMO. I don't like their one piece bent steel link, nor their need for a nylon strap to hold the alxe up. I really don't like how they don't have an actual steel cross link to center the axle, they use nylon pads fixed to the frame with steel 'rubber'...- DZL JIM

Repair kits have always worked fine for me. Use a jack under the outer edge (where the strike is) with the door fully open to support the door when you drive the pin out. Drive the pin out and I had to make several cuts across the top of the bronze bushings (shoulder, you'll see) with a small...- DZL JIM

What year 7.3 is best?
I had an '03 Super Duty gasser that I seriously considered a Cummins swap. But I traded it in on a car for my wife and bought an OBS PSD. Mileage SUCKED with the gasser... Keep in mind a '99 - '03 SD Power Stroke gets about 15 to 17 mpg tops. My '97 cc sb 4x4 gets 21 on the freeway. The Old...- DZL JIM

Noooooooooooooooooooo 6.00000000000000000!!! Tried that. Those injectors are either total junk or 'OK'. There's no rebuilding them, no parts are available for them at all except for larger nozzles. If you have a bad injector, or set, throw them out and get another one... I tried to sell...- DZL JIM

O-rings
You don't want to use the cheap hardware store o-rings. I have that $12 o-ring kit from Harbor Freight (or whatever it cost) and I've used those o-rings too many times, but I've been warned not to use them and I'm on borrowed time. Just get the good ones and be done with it. ;Sweet- DZL JIM

Any update to this problem? I've run into this a lot over the last few months. Everything points to the injectors, but the ones I had were all within spec, and looked great, but truck runs like crap when warm. Thanks.- DZL JIM

O-rings
Or you can go to a hydraulics shop (Parker Store, etc) and ask for o-rings for #5 oring boss fittings for the heads, and #6 oring boss fitting sfor the HPOP.- DZL JIM
