So.. one of my guys topped off my 8.3 Cummins with one gallon of RV Antifreeze instead of red elc coolant.
The whole system is going to be drained flushed and refilled with proper coolant.
My question is can I run it for one day before we drive it to the shop or is it risky?
*Really* need...
High hours DT466e coolant in oil. Diagnosis is a bad liner o-ring. Happened on a very cold day, the morning after using the block heater for the first time in years. Is there any chance that a bad block heater could cause this failure? Just curious. TIA.
Thanks for the info everyone. I will definitely not be rigging the EBPV as a brake anytime soon!!
Are the proper $800 exhaust brake kits with transcommand still harder on the E4OD? And are they hard to install?
OK I think I am going to rig it up like you are talking about here, but with the Stancor (White Rogers) Relay. Will there be any way the stupid controller can still toast my GP's or will it be completely "bypassed"?
Thanks everyone!
For a manual switch: What are you guys using for a relay? Or just a really big switch with 10 AWG wire the whole way??
And what are you using for a fuse/breaker?
Thanks!
I've always used Motorcraft Beru Plugs, but this is an aftermarket controller "diesel rx" off ebay............ Don't remember what controller I had in there last time, Motorcraft I think.
Anyone have an IH Part Number for the Controller? This is on a '94 7.3 IDI factory turbo
I know there is a ton of GP info on here. I am just wondering WHY my plugs and controllers only last 1-1.5 years? I am running my second set of 8 brand new Beru plugs, new harness, new controller, the latest set of which I installed all at the same time (under 2 years ago) and they are already...
I already have a Detroit Truetrac in my rear diff and love it... Might be putting one in my front diff soon as well, I have a loud ting-ting-ting when rolling in 4x4, haven't pinpointed the noise yet.
Where is the best place to purchase nowadays?
How difficult is the install for a...
I wonder if the Edge can read and CLEAR DTC's as well as a decent scanner? And if it can be swapped between makes/models? (supported applications of course)
Yeah.. haha.. what I meant was my EBPV is unplugged and non-functional and I don't want to plug it back in. I want it to only work manually. If I just put switched 12v to the colored wire and ground the black wire will it work?
I know this seems like a dumb comparison, but I was wondering how well the diagnostic code-reading features of an Edge Programmer work with a '97 PSD? Anywhere near as good as a scanner? I can't really purchase both.
It might be neat to have a programmer, but maybe a scanner is a better...
I recently replaced my CPS with a motorcraft blue CPS and it seems to have cured my stalling problem, but now I have a new problem: sometimes starting out from a stop in Forward or Reverse, the throttle pedal does not work and check engine light comes on.. THis continues for a few seconds, and...
Would a real exhaust brake also have issues with an E4OD? I noticed some of them come with a trans command or whatever...don't know if this would be required for use with an E4OD
Yep it is automatic if you have it connected LOL
I am definitely hauling heavy enough, in the mountains, and love the idea of a "free" exhaust brake to help control my speed, but I don't want to mess up my engine in the process... All I know is the EBPV works different than a true...
So you wired your EBPV to a toggle switch to warm up your truck faster in the winter while parked, or to use like an exhaust brake while rolling? Or both?
I read that using the EBPV like an exhaust brake may harm your engine?? Or blow out some oil seals or something?
