    "Very rare" "Carburated Diesel"

I've got a smile on my face, but it feels wrong to push it in his face this bad.

Funny how he calls it a "ford engine"

    Quick weird electricial quesiton.

On my 97 ranger, when I put on the e brake, the ABS light comes on. If I start the truck with the e brake still on, it comes on. If I start it with the e brake off, it never comes on. Has anyone experienced this before?

    glow plug problems?

I've had a resistor go bad before believe it or not. One day the gp wires show 10V to the plug, the next day they show 12.4V. If that's the case, I would make sure that all the plugs come out easy and no tips have broken off. If they do, and this truck is what you want, then you can go...

    Freakin Newbie!

Pick up coolant test strips before you look at it. If it tests that its never been treated with sca's, look for a doner engine, or don't buy it.

    Lets talk injectors

I think he meant if you were to have someone do this for you. It can be very expensive.

    Progressively harder to start

It sounds like it could be an air intrusion, if not injectors. After she stalls when you first fire it up does it take like 10 seconds of cranking to get it to fire? That would mean air in present, or if your return line caps are leaking. I wouldn't be too worried about the blue smoke on...

    Building a front bumper

Looks stellar man!! But i've always wondered what the benefit of having that center piece is. If you pull from it, the stress is going to have to be perfectly perpendictular to the truck or that flat stock will tweak. So I'm not sure if that's what you even do with it but that's my anaylsis.

    Glow Plugs

I recently tried a set of the 1110's in my truck. Started up great the first time. Second time all 8 were dead, with one swelled and hard to get out, but it came out thankfully. They were hooked up with the resistor and everything, so they saw about 10V. I don't recommend getting them, even...

New Intake, what do you think?

That looks real nice but Is there enough space to allow for the twist of the motor? There probably is, it just looks real tight from my screen.

    ZF-6 in an IDI?

I've thought about this very thing because I too have an E4OD, and I figured if i'm going to have to convert to a manual and do all the add ons anyway, why not do the zf6? Well after doing a lot of reading then and now, I think that putting in a zf5 with an underdrive unit if you wanted the...

Crappy pic quality, but you get the picture.

So I guess the question is, if it ran for over 30 mins...is it ok? Well, as much of "ok" as it can be considering the situation. How and the hell can something probably 3/4" long be able to pass through the valves? Do these engines really have that much stroke to the valve?

Crappy pic quality, but you get the picture.

I am a dumb-ass!!! This plug broke when I was trying to take it out, but thats not the part that sucks the most. I assumed that the plug tip was stuck in there, so I put the half plug back in and went to go get pizza. When I came back, and I removed the half plug, I put in a normal plug to...

    radiator overflow bottle

It doesn't have to be pressurized, IIRC its just a sphyon (sp?) system.

    24V GP system ?s

NEW FINDINGS! Not good either. The circut works perfectly but I woke up to 6 burned out plugs. Very odd seems how I've had them glowing for over 3 minutes at a time with no ill effects other than some chrome on the plug flaking off due to the damn heat. So I am now looking for 24V glow...

    radiator overflow bottle

#1 in the pic is a vent hole at the top. I also have a sight tube running from the bottom of the assembly tapped in with a 1/8" elbow and running up with a small vent hole in it so I can see the level without opening the cap. I don't have a picture of that though, and its too dark.

    24V GP system ?s

Here are some more pics and a vid. The vid was @24*F when I started it, with an overnight low of 7*F. 30 second glow. I'm not talking in the vid, so you'll only hear the engine. Turn up the sound. First switch I hit was the 24V switch, second one after starting is the charging circut...

    24V GP system ?s

Don't mind the crappy diagram, I think it still gets the point across. I did it in CAD first, but I don't think everyone has CAD to open the attatchment. I think everyone has paint. 79592[/ATTACH]"] The bottom 2 batteries are stock configuration. The third battery has been in the...

    24V GP system ?s

Damn right! The series parallel switch is basically the professional way of doing what I wanted, I just couldn't afford it.

    24V GP system ?s

Its DONE!! And for less than $20!! 2 relays, and an assortment of connectors. Basically here is how it goes. I have one switch that enables 24V to the GP circut only. That switch goes on when I'm glowing the plugs. When I start the truck and It's running, I turn the 24V switch off, and...

    radiator overflow bottle

To make room for my third battery, I had to relocate my washer fluid resivoir and coolant overflow. I made the overflow out of PVC. Easy enough to do, just costs more than the stupid bottles from advance auto.

    24V GP system ?s

What would be the cheapest yet bullet proof way to put 24 V to my GP's? Keep in mind that I have 3 batteries. I have my own ideas, but I would like to see what you have to say too. The 15G plugs love 24V. Ran them for about 2 mins and they glowed orange all the way up the tip it was...

    AC Delco 15G test...

Update. Yesterday morning was the coldest I have had to start the truck in. 16* and she didn't like it. Took a 30 second glow, and about 5, 5 second bursts of the starter to fire her up. I didn't let off the plugs until she fired. Right now its 6* and I'll try starting her in the...
