Speedometer, Tranny, ABS, PSOM ongoing problems

Greenie, Thanks for the Reply. I know it's a long Post and hard to try and figure it out, but I do appreciate folks reading the Post. Transmission rebuilt in June 2023. Maybe, 3,000 miles on it? It has a 24 month or 24,000 mile warranty. It's at their shop now, awaiting them to check it out...

Speedometer, Tranny, ABS, PSOM ongoing problems

I'm still dealing with speedometer fluctuating. This situation seems common when talking to others. When first began to battle the speedometer fluttering (it begins around 45 mph; then at 70 mph it hopes back-n-forth to 60 mph). The tachometer also was fluttering some. Disconnecting the abs...

    Random surging while driving

My '93 idi is having speedometer stuttering/bouncing issues and fuel lines and possibly the IP are on the list of things to check. You folks in this Post have been very helpful - appreciate everyone's input. For us amateurs out here, Posts like this are of tremendous value and insight.

    Cruise control surging

When first got the truck, tach and speedometer both jumped around. Disconnected the ABS, behind the glove box, and the tach quit jumping. But the speedometer still jumps. Engine runs good. Will scout out "a compromise connection before the fuel pump." I do some mechanicing, but I'm a...

    Cruise control surging

Yes, probably a bit of a stretch (air flow) but it did alter the speedometer needle bouncing. It's puzzling! If by speed sensor, do you mean the VSS? Have replaced the VSS and checked out the connector/wiring/pigtail(VSS wiring connector?). There have been comments about air infiltration...

    Cruise control surging

Been awhile commenting on this situation: speedometer pulsing/stuttering/bouncing. From the above Posts, the tach is working properly, not bouncing, in my '93 73.idi. The speedometer still pulsing/stuttering/bouncing, I'll explain here: 1. speedometer needle holds where it should until over 45...

1986 A/C-Heater air flow, not right

1986 F-250 6.9: A/C - Heater control on the dadh no longer allows air to defrost/floor/mix (maybdodoe mix?) I don't use A/C (disconnected the belt). All was working as it's suppoed to. Then last week, when moving the arm/lever for defrost/mix/floow/vent, all that would come out was air blowing...

    1993 VSS E4OD Question

1993 Ford F-250 7.3 IDI, non-turbo, E4OD If the VSS (Vehicle Safety Switch) on the rear axle should fail to operate/work (say broken wire) so the speedometer will not work/show mph's, yet the tachometer still functions (probably not involved with the speedometer, but letting it be known)...

    OD worth the $ ?

I've a 1986 F-250 6.9, 4x4 4:10 and factory 4-speed manual (T-19?) - truck is all original, 198k miles now. A previous owner had installed a Gear Vender in 1992. According to GV online chart, when in 4th overdrive, I now run at 3:22 ratio. I can now run 70-75 mph and keep at/under 2400 rpms...

    Normal oil pressures

Only have factory dash gauges (so far) for oil pressure. Here in southcentral Montana I generally plug the block heater in for an hour or 2, being nice to the engine. Using 15-40w Delo/Rotello (bought a lot early last year) year round here and Fl-1995 oil filters (have a stash of them) in the...

203 temp thermostat in '93 idi?

What's your opinion in changing from factory thermostat to a 203 temp thermostat in a stock 7.3 idi 1993?

    Cruise control surging

Glad it worked for your situation. With the abs module disconnected, I still get a very slight engine pulse (speedometer does ok) at 70 mph using cruise control. I find that if I gently apply a bit of pressure on the throttle pedal, it stops pulsing. Though it seems to also tend to fade away...

    Cruise control surging

I recently got a 1993 F-250 stock under the hood 7.3 idi. The speedometer would flutter/surge and also the tach, mainly when got up near 40 mph and upwards from there. I changed the FSS switch on the punkin, twice. No change. Also replaced the overdrive switch (E4OD), but the speedometer/tach...

    1993 E4OD torque converter

Seller n' I talked/discussed and we settled on a deal. Of course we both think 'we' did the better of the deal!! Now the games begin: going over n' scouting things out and attending to matters. That's part of the enjoyment of our diesels . . . isn't it!!!! :)

    1993 E4OD torque converter

Big Bart: thank you for your input, it's all helpful. That should have been 120-130k (thousand) miles. I've been looking online about/for, after market torque converters, ATS shows a stout one. The cost for it is there, but if it's as stout as they claim, should last my lifetime+, I'm 75 years...

    1993 E4OD torque converter

I'm in the process of purchasing a 1993 F-250 7.3 IDI non-turbo, 3:55 gears, extended cab, 112,400 miles on it. Seller's had it for 3 years, only put 1,000 miles on it since then. He bought it for the heavy camper that came with it and prefers his Duramax truck. Previous owner used it for...
