Howdy y’all, I’ve got a full motor with factory turbo kit. 94 idi turbo. Something happened to the motor a couple years ago i I thought it seized but I was able to start it up once it cooled off. It’s just sitting now that I’ve swapped it and I need to clear space up.
What do you guys think...
Howdy, so this issue actually occurred a couple years ago and the truck didn’t get driven much once I got the motor pulled
So anyways this was the original light switch the truck came with but it looked like someone was in there before me.
I started smelling a burning electrical smell while...
So..my 94 f350 4x4 has a 97 PSD Dana 60 swapped in. I’ve been hearing noise up front and ripped it all apart. The drivers hub spun for an hood long while and made a lot of noise once I got my caliper off. I’m rebuilding slide pin boots/calipers/ inner oil seals, inner stub axle bearings, axle u...
Howdy folks..it’s been a little while since I’ve posted here.
But I finally got my motor swap done this spring and I went all out replacing injectors, various pumps, seals, flex plate, steering gears..on and on while the motor was out. Even having the radiator flushed and painted. I was...
Well I’ve got my fuel system all pulled apart. The injectors in my recently swapped motor are messed up. The rear drivers side was finger tight! Then the copper washer came out totally deformed and looked to be double stacked but it’s just one?
The next one pulled came out in pieces so I ground...
So I’ve been driving the truck around just a bit..my abs light and parking brake light is on. Everything seems hooked up and functional. Parking brake isn’t set..
But the other thing I’ve noticed is while I have there is a burning electrical smell coming from the hvac system. Could my fan just...
So I know this isn’t IDI specific but I’m not sure this post will get a response else where on the site?
I went to start up the truck to get my hood put back on. My traveling diesel mechanic friend thinks it’s got a leaking injector..just a gray/white smoke once heat up and a slight knock...
Hey just a few thoughts I’ve been pondering. I’m about to have my 94 all buttoned up after a few more days tinkering. I have owned many 2000+ 7.3 powerstrokes over the years and I wanted to try out the simple mechanical engine in the idi. I’ve noticed I could my pick of dozens of 7.3...
So I recently swapped motors. Two things I may have over looked. The injectors look recently installed due to having a gun metal finish. The injection pump has a reman tag on it but it’s mostly corrosion rust colored..not pitted or anything just surface rust.
I went to install the factory...
So I’ve got the new water pump on and the replacement engine in and running! But I clearly forgot to add sealant to the 4 water pump bolts. I have a slow leak and im wondering do I need to drain the coolant down and then rtv the bolts? Or can I just put on some thread tape and leave the system full?
So I’ve got two new lines and a new pump and gears..I have a little baggie of orings. One hard plastic oring and a small black rubber ring. Which line do these go on and where?
So I’ve got my motor out and getting ready to replace. But I was wondering what I should do about the foil insulation that wraps around the heater core box. It’s ripped and sagging due to rain.
Should I just taped it up with foil tape?
So I’ve got my turbo off my spare motor and the intake screen is totally warped and distorted from the previous owner. The turbo has a remanufactured stamp on it so that’s good I guess.
So...do I need this screen? I have the blown motor in the truck that I could get another screen from if...
So I’m getting ready to drop my motor in..figured I should get a new flex plate. I only see one listed on rock auto.
Outer diameter is 15.68”
Is that the right size?
Well I just got the rear main seal done last night. I might as well change out the water pump.
The Napa one I can have tomorrow for $66 not sure the brand maybe try-flo
On rock auto I can get an AC Delhi for $66 bucks..what do you guys think? They also have one for $33 but never heard of...
So..after seizing my 7.3 idit I picked one up for $650 bucks and a long drive. I got it home and have it hanging from a chain. I got it running on the chain and it’s puffing on the drivers side manifold..one big white puff when one of the cylinders fire as it idles. Other than that it runs...
So I had what I thought was a seized motor after a weird turbo squealing and rough idle...there is oil all over the back of the drivers side motor..from start up to seize I drove a total of 2 maybe 3 miles...truck was slowly running out of power and I kept giving it more until it shut down and...
So I bout a truck from a friend 1999 6 spd..fuel system has been replaced from tank to go pump and larger return lines..I’ve owned a lot of diesels and this is the first Cummins. I’ve noticed a little bit of a haze at idle..this goes on for awhile but eventually goes away..we’ve only driven this...

This guy was refusing to take 2k as a parts truck and then smashed his windshield..my truck is broken and...
I’m planning on testing my fuel pressure at the filter head. Temp test not permanent..so from what I’ve read, I take the core out of the valve and then slide a hose onto it with clamp..then hose to mechanical fuel gauge. Low pressure right? Like 6-10psi running?
So I was just curious if anyone else here has rebuilt their own turbo? I realize they should be balanced and tested but I’m just curious if anyone has done it at hole and ran the truck for years after?
I had a 6.0 that had a leaking oil seal and I pulled it apart and replaced everything that...
Hello, I've had many diesel trucks but this is my first IDI truck. I've owned it for 2.5 years. It's been extremely reliable. But lately I've neglected it just a bit. I know it needs the front axle overhauled. Planning on doing that after my spare truck is up and going. It is getting oil changes...
