The IDI is healthy. Just turned 100k miles and starts in the cold in less than 5 seconds. I am a competent mechanic, boss.
Been wrenching for 21 years now. I just really like the Bricknose style, and the cummins simplicity, sound, and power potential over the 7.3.
I had a 40x50 shop, lift...
Probably worth a call to Diesel Conversion Specialists. Like you said above about 10" length difference, if I have to relocate the drive train, that's more than I want to take on.
I want to keep a C6 because I just like cruising. I like to shiftgears too....but I gotta save my knees as much as...
Yeah, that's cool man. I'm not dead set on the 5.9. But I would like to do a straight axle swap on the front, and haul logs fully loaded on a 14k-16k gooseneck.
I did look up the banks sidewinder kits, that plus a upgraded pump and injectors would maybe suffice.
I do not want to relocate the...
The bolt pattern on the block of a 7.3 IDI is an International bolt pattern. Are you
The bolt pattern on a 7.3 IDI block is International. Are you telling me there is already a factory adapter that converts the International bolt pattern to a Ford Big Block pattern to mate it to a C6? I was...
I've got a healthy c6 auto, and a gear vendors unit, and 4wd. I'm wanting to swap in a 5.9 cummins.
I've searched the interwebs...seems I am searching the wrong terms maybe. I just can't seem to find anyone who sells a 6BT to 7.3 International Trans bolt pattern adapter, motor mounts, and a/c...
Oh man! Sorry I disappeared!!! Ive had sooooo much going on. The forum got put way on the backburner. The GV unit has worked AMAZINGLY.
I have kept the control module and everything hooked up like it should be. I just keep it in manual mode and hit the foot switch when I need that OD gear. The...
The other day I processed a couple 4000lb oak logs on my sawmill, then hauled a 5000lb log that was too long for my mill to the Amish mill and traded it for an Oak post and enough 16' Oak boards to redo my trailer decking. The 7.3 ran great. Air works, and felt so good after sweating my balls...
Well....this 81 flareside has a 460 in it. So...I might build the 460 for my 82 flareside. Im going to save the 81 chassis and bed. The cab and all interior is junk.
Well, I didnt do it today...but a few days ago I used my IDI to pull home an 81 flareside I found for 600 bucks. Has 4x4, 460 big block and c6. Hell, I just wanted it for the rear fenders and bed.
Not I have 2 bullnose 4x4 flaresides.
How much for the 88? I have a problem too. I currently have 1 bricknose, 1 bullnose, just gave a buddy a bullnose, 1 silverado, and 1 tahoe. I need another bricknose.......
Well, this weekend I am starting a ford truck meet at my place. We plan on doing some steering work on a buds 86 f150, eating some burgers and emptying a few cans around the campfire. Going to have a big bon fire in a few weeks.
LOL...We wont discriminate, come on over. Gettin together Saturday for the first meet. Me and my bud Matt love the 80-91s the most, but heck, we can work on anything....long as its a Ford. Dont pay any attension to the chevys sitting in the drive wink wink.
Where you at?
Jr, my other bud who...
