Hey everyone, I’ve been working on my 1987 6.9 van and I brought her in for inspection. The kingpins need work. I’m in Worcester MA. I contacted a “spring rebuilder” and they said it’d be over 1000 bucks and probably under 2000. That seem right? If anyone has shop recommendations in the...
Everything’s looking good with the water pump.
My brake is super still. I’ll do the pump it up start the car trick and it’ll be normal then seize up and be super stiff. Do I just need to bleed the brakes? I don’t think there are any air bubbles but the fluid is decently dirty.

Dude at autozone told me I wouldn’t be able to find a replacement part for it. So actually super helpful answer thanks. I hit it with a torch a few times and it’s in there pretty tight but good to know I have a backup if I can’t get it out

Alright I think that’s the hose outlet. What does it go to? Any insight would be sweet. The bolt that’s in its spot on the water pump
I got is in super tight which makes me think it’s not supposed to be removed.

Water pump is in thanks for the help everyone. Any idea what the hose and metal piece are? Don’t know terminology or size haha

The new pump only came with 2 screws?? I’m going to go check the packaging and see if there is some instructions but any thoughts on which 2 go into the crankcase or whatever that gets messed up?

I would prefer to pick up parts local because school starts in a week. Is the flowkooler water pump worth the wait and extra cash? Does it help the engine run a bunch cooler?

Ok so it appears I’m losing all the fluid from the weep hole. What does this mean? Busted water pump? While I’m in here is there anything else that I should replace? Any last tips for the water pump replacement step? Thanks for all the help with getting the fan clutch off

Hey fellas any tips to keep the belts from spinning? Having trouble getting enough leverage to use a hammer. Also a reverse thread would be front fly wheel pressure clockwise correct?

There’s no play at all weirdly but the water pumps bearing must be cooked because it doesn’t spin well. So is the issue that the water pump doesn’t seal against the coolant channels that go into the engine? I’m just having a hard time visualizing.

What the heck is going on. I cant locate a hose that’s leaking and it appears I’m losing coolant from behind the flywheel. Any ideas? Is there a gasket back there?
That’s the highest point I can locate. If you’re a diesel tech in Boston I’d also be happy to pay someone to take a look if...
