    Brake Troubleshooting

    One thing to remember on old drum brakes, the adjustors only work if you are going fast enough in reverse and make a solid application. They are activated by rear (main) shoe moving. Going forward there is not enough movement.

    COOLANT/CAVITATION/RELATED QUESTIONS

    Cavitation is the formation of bubbles in the coolant due to poor coolant and then the bubble imploding along the coolant side of the cylinder when it fires. It can eventually eat a hole all the way through the cylinder wall. It's always obvious on a wet sleeve engine when you pull the sleeve out.

    Fuel Additives

    By emulsifying the the water either the filter media will absorb it or it will go right through and won't bother your injectors. Either way you will never see it, or if you do you have enough to shut off the filter. The media in a filter meant to stop water swells up and won't let anything through.

    Fuel shutoff solenoid in the pump is dragging. If it was an alternate fuel source you'd never get it shut off.
