    Remove the muffler, if that doesn't help get it compression checked, could be cavitation. Mine was acting similar before it blew the block. Also pull valve covers, it could have a bad rocker or bent valve

    How do you separate the pulley from the balancer? All bolts are out, the big washer is out and the pulley wont budge and a puller is just pulling on the whole balancer not the pulley. Should I just move over the whole balancer?

    I will post pictures this evening now that I have the engine all the way out. I didn't realize how big of a job it was. This engine really did not want to come out. That and the lift tipped once, wheel broke and it nose dived into the truck and smashed the crossmember but engine appears fine so far.

    I am very confused. I am in the middle of swapping engines between 2 trucks and the flexplate/torque converter has 6 nuts on the 1994. I thought all IDI had 4 bolt flexplates. Does anyone have any idea why I have 6?

    My trucks lights stopped working partially, I have replaced the switch but still only have running lights on the drivers side and no headlights. Also checked the switch connector and no burnt or melted plastic. Could it be the dimmer?

    Ok, so tell them to switch everything with a pulley? I am also having him put a complete return line kit on with the new copper washers for the injectors. I can't wait to get it back, I miss driving it. This really cut into having the front springs/bushings repaired

    The truck is going in for the engine swap out this weekend, hopefully they know what they are doing. One is V belt and one is serpentine, one has an external voltage regulator and one has it in the alternator.

    So I moved the injectors over and it was idling fine, then shot metal and oil out of the block and oil pan. She's a gonner. Now I need to find someone to swap engines over

    Injectors appear fine and tapping is still there, replaced the radiator so I did an oil change while I was at it, no metal, coolant, and did not appear to be diesel in the oil, and no oil in the coolant so I guess that is good. I am going to put the known good injectors from my other truck in it...

    So what did you do with your truck today?

    They just want it fixed so it stops smoking out the neighborhood at this point, I have a small cattle farm in the area I spend most of my time at but no house on the property so I rent here
