Click-IDIy Click; No Start.
Fairly sure I was hearing fuel pump relay making noises AFTER the Wait Light went out : "Clicky-click" repeating about 4 times then all quiet -cranked it over but no beastie noises. The_Josh_Bear On that note years ago before I could time my own engine(by ear or meter) I had some crazy-retarded timing, like 0* BTDC on the pulse meter. That engine would nearly start itself, and actually would start over 75* ambient with no GPs. And not a great starter speed either...- KYSlowhand

Anything acutely critical in materials has been dealt with by US = US.gov. May be Government or other salvage, exhaust from aircraft turbines - sounds like a small unit your developing; just needs to function?- KYSlowhand

Took PICs this time NOT shivering-cold hoping the beastie would start ! Found throttle cable was moving very little; but lub'd it. Throttling up while cranking is good for quick-easy starting this motor. THNX x2 Gentlemen.- KYSlowhand

Massive! oil consumption
perhaps piston rings sealing well enough to operate fairly well but being old they are not keeping crankcase oil from being drawn into the combustion chamber.- KYSlowhand

The engine is Diesel /not 460- have a bunch of that motor. ? PAS -Passive Air Supply -Non-Turbo definitely. The air cleaner from outside looks like the Oil-Bath style but has a round paper filter. Underneath the filter-a wire screen to keep mice out? lol. Cannot see what the throttle cable-shaft...- KYSlowhand

Chilliman88 Look under the air cleaner the IDI throttle-pedal- moves a cable > that turns a shaft on the side of the intake; no fuel there to control - just the air coming through the air cleaner. Opening the throttle on these engines allows air [not mixed w/Fuel] to get into the cylinders. Then...- KYSlowhand

About 32 degrees when starting the 7.3 IDI engine today; opened throttle full, waited for glow plugs to heat and fired first time; believe I could have used just half throttle.- KYSlowhand

Leaks are destructive if the interior is not waterproof. Have only a couple of times rode in such a vehicle; I liked a convertible feeling without rain falling on my head when going slow/ stopped. T-tops must be the same way, an old timer told me, a rubber lubricant on door-seals and such helps...- KYSlowhand
