Yeah I needed it done asap so the instock tensioner at o Riley was 109 and pulley was 30. So I got hosed for needing it done now. Everyone else was getting it to me by the 15th or later. Beats paying a shop to do it I guess.
And thanks guys for all of your insight and help. This really is a...
Got it out! Looks like the plate that compresses the top to the bottom completely snapped. Should I replace the idler pulley since this thing had wedged itself against it?
Since the tensioner pulley is jammed against the idler. I have to remove the idler to pull the tensioner. What direction thread is the idler bolt? Im assuming it’s reverse but I really don’t want to break anything
Thank you for the quick and detailed response! Mine seems to have a spring behind it and have never noticed a gap where I could actually see the spring.
Since it seemed to come forward into the fan and wedged itself onto what I assume is the idler pulley, did a bolt come loose or snap off?
And...
my tensioner failed the other night. Looks like the the tensioner popped out into the fan and banged the blades up. The pulley on top is completely wedged into the small pulley underneath. I’m not feeling a bolt head in the hole where it would seem to attach the tensioner. I’m confused on the...
Great info! Thank you.
I guess In hindsight that was sort of how it was working. The only thing was the lack of power going up the Vantage hill. It dropped out of overdrive with it floored. This was at a speed of around 45 mph. I guess it just feels like there is no torque (I’m not sure if...
First of all I want to thank everyone who chimed in to help me learn with my limited skills and understanding. The knowledge on this forum is priceless and I appreciate everyone.
Just an update. I just completed a 600+ mile trip from the Tacoma Wa area to the Idaho panhandle near the Montana...
Just an update. Trans cooler installed. Fuel filter changed, and air filter replaced. The air filter fits really nice in the ram air box. The bracket holding the box on needed to be shimmed so that the filter fits on the turbo correctly. It has a noticeable increase in power. I haven’t towed...
Thanks for the info! I’m going to put a much larger transmission cooler on and hope for the best. If that doesn’t work it may be time for a different truck.
I finally had some time time to start trouble shooting my issues. Researching a little on a new air filter it seems that the one I have is a dry filter, which I was told by previous owner that needed to be washed and oiled once or twice a year.
So could this possibly be restricting airflow to...
Thanks for the heads up!
They cut the lines and plugged them with bolts and hose clamps. It looks really half a**ed!
Have a safe trip and let me know how you do!
That cooler is easily twice the size of of the external one I have!
Yeah the guy at the transmission shop bypassed it the last time it was rebuilt. I wasn’t planning on doing anything with the truck at that time except hauling yard waste and doing the usual ‘round the house stuff.
Now I’m...
The tranny cooler in the radiator looks like it was bypassed and and the external one is pretty small. I may need a bigger cooler! Are they a pain in the ass to install?
What kind of transmission temps should I expect on a 70 degree day pulling with the OD off with that light trailer up small grades? The probe for the trans temp is in the test port.
I just got home from work and looked. The egt sensor is plumbed into what I am assuming is the up pipe going from the manifold into the turbo. Does that give a more accurate reading?
