Towing ?
I tow a 33 foot toy hauler 10,000lbs. with mine. I ran 8% grades with the E4OD. It is slow going up grades like that and you need to hit the slow lane with the big trucks. Evaporator issues
I wasn't sure if it was the evaporator or the condenser, I went ahead and changed them both. I did bring the system to vacuum and it held fine for over an hour. I figured it was probably the condenser or the evaporator might be gummed up, the previous owner had one R134 valve and one R-12...- faaiish

Evaporator issues
I tried cleaning it and using ester with the old parts except changing the receiver dryer. It never cooled well, it cooled but on a 100 degree day I was getting 85 degree air. Turbo Boost and highway speeds.
I tried pulling a 4000 lbs. trailer up an 8% grade without the turbo and it would only go 45 miles an hour. Has anyone purchased the brass and copper radiator offered from radiators.com ? It shows it is a original like construction but doesn't clearly state it is a 4 core radiator. Found some factory discontinued parts
GB, Just wanted to let you know if you go to villagefordparts.com they show the rear trans mount still available and it is under $20.00 for the factory mount. I just ordered the factory water pump for under $90.00 for my 89- faaiish

I pulled my motor out two days ago to refresh my gaskets and found one of my motor mounts was deteriorating pretty badly. It was the front pump seal on the transmission that was leaking. I went ahead and bit the bullet on this one, I got a remanufactured E04D with all the updates. I pulled the old trans out and this still has the factory stamped torque converter so I don't think it has had any updates since it...- faaiish

Update, I bit the bullet and got one from BestBuy transmission. I haven't installed it yet but I can say so far there customer service has been spot on. Yes, that is the about right. My 1989 F250 did about the same speed and RPM going up Sandstone mountain in WVa. about a month ago it is an 8% grade and is about 8 miles long. I was sort of amazed it was going that fast when I topped the mountain. Mine didn't overheat motor wise it overheated...- faaiish

I will leave them alone. The E40D shifted hard at times, was a dream at others (especially after a new TPS and tach sensor). It did feel weak going into overdrive so I figure unless I got it rebuilt with all the updates its just a matter of time. Its better ti do it at home than to be...- faaiish
