    ISO Flexplate Spacer

A follow up with good news, the plate came in and was a direct fit, seems to be of the same quality as the original, at least thickness and weight. Took me some time to get everything back together but it's in the truck and she's running good. The ebay seller is wwwseautocom and the...

    ISO Flexplate Spacer

IDIBRONCO, not sure I follow your question. I don't have a spacer, rather, I have a heavy cast flywheel with a thick hub, flexplate is placed inside that and the whole assembly bolted to the crank. chillman88, I stumbled across his yesterday in my search, that one would put a hurtin' on my fun...

    Diesel to gasser

I went the other direction and did an idi swap into an F150, it still needs some loose ends squared away but it's just about road ready. Things that come to mind that I had to do were motor mounts, gas engine mounts were riveted to the cross member, had to grind out the rivets. There's a hole in...

    ISO Flexplate Spacer

Good morning, I have a cracked Flexplate on my 1990 F250, E4OD combo. It's of the two piece design, thin Flexplate mated to a cast iron flywheel/ring gear. I got excited when I found a replacement Flexplate for under $100, but now I've come to the realization that I need the elusive crankshaft...

    Early E4OD Output Shaft

Good morning everyone, I picked up a 2WD E4OD the other day for my project F-150 IDI swap. The truck is a 90 (mechanical speedo) and the trans is from an OBS, door sticker of the donor truck said 94, was behind a Powerstroke. Compatibility is obviously a problem with the output shaft. I've been...

    Yes, another timing thread..

Honestly, I broke with Forum wisdom with my injectors. I bought BWD's from Advance Auto. They are new injectors, not Stanadyne reman's. I still have two sets of Stanadyne's that need rebuild, maybe that will happen some rainy day. The BWD's didn't have a core charge and it just worked out...

    Yes, another timing thread..

Thank you gentlemen for the input. I backed the timing down to the static marks, she still starts quick, no excess smoke on start (40 degrees this morning), and little to no smoke on accel an cruise on my way to work. I've got two full tanks, curious to see how my mileage changes as I was...

    Yes, another timing thread..

Good evening folks. I've scoured the forums and I'm even more confused with my truck than ever before and hoping some can shine a light for me. I have a 6.9, turbo'd with Banks. New injector pump, new injectors, timed with ferret adapter and digital light at 10*. I'm experiencing a hazy smoke...

    Wrecked

Thanks again for everyone's advice. As promised, the verdict: I received word back from my claims adjuster, they came out an looked at the truck on Monday. They marked it as total loss and then made an offer that allowed me to recover everything (financially) I had in the truck and then the...

    Wrecked

The other driver has coverage and I've already checked NADA, not a pretty sum. VA does salvage titles, but I might play heck getting it insured if I go that route. My daily is a little Honda Civic since I commute to work 60+ miles a day.. I took the pickup on my errands just to stretch her legs...

    Wrecked

Glad you were alright! It takes a lot of effort to move 6000#, lol. My truck stayed running after impact and I was able to pull off to the shoulder. I probably could have driven it home but my lower radiator hose popped off and spilled my $20-a-gallon antifreeze all over the road way. I haven't...

WTB: Home for my 6.9 powerplant

My truck is probably going to be totaled by my insurance, which I'll then probably buy back as "salvage". I'm looking for a vehicle to drop my engine into. Must have: Close to Virginia Factory IDI vehicle, not interested in converting a gasser at this time Body in good shape, minimal rust...

    Wrecked

Well, I was in an accident yesterday, thought I'd share the photos of the carnage. His car didn't stand a chance. I was waiting in line for traffic to start moving, the light turned green and I began accelerating. At the time I was stopped, there was no one behind me. As I was pulling away, the...

    Used Banks Kit

I don't know if anyone else has had an issue, but the stainless collet hardware that Banks uses created some issues when I recently put my truck back together. Two of the stainless nuts cross threaded on the studs, one on the turbo mounting flange and another on the bracket that secures the...

    Tire choices

I'm no rocket surgeon, but there's plenty of information available about tire pressures and why/why not to run nitrogen. Here's my $.02.. Maximum tire pressure is directly related to maximum load capacity. Lower your tire pressure and you reduce the ability of that tire to carry the rated load...

    7.3 idi to 6.9 idi

I just did this swap, 1990 7.3 had bad valve guides, needed rebuilt heads.. I found an '87 6.9 and threw it in. Just like these veterans are saying, everything swapped over easily, easy fit. The 6.9 already had the updated glowpug system that was actually in better shape than the 7.3's, all the...

    Vacuum Warning Switch

Good news, she fired up after getting all the air out! I didn't bother with the switch, main focus was getting her started. The brake light didn't illuminate even though the switch wasn't connected to vacuum. I haven't tested the switch yet, but I'm assuming the contacts are stuck. Maybe next...

    Vacuum Warning Switch

Thanks for the replies, advice and offer. I'm going to try to put it back together like ole Humpty Dumpty first. I'm trying to get this thing started this weekend so I'm going to try gluing the nipple back on.. thoughts on an adhesive? Think superglue or some sort of "plastic weld" miracle...

    Vacuum Warning Switch

Good evening Oil Burners, In my haste to pull my old engine out and get the replacement in I seem to have broken the vacuum line nipple on the low vacuum warning switch. Does anyone know of a replacement or a work-around to fix this thing properly (alternate setup)? I traced out some part...

    7.3 cooling mod

So it's definitely a 6.9 head, just tried some 1/2" bolts and they don't fit, measured the hole and it comes in around .475, ARP stud threads measure .437 (7/16). Head has slightly off center glow plug holes as well.

New Owner Learning Curve, Strange Sound

So, now I'm thinking they are definitely 6.9 heads.. casting number "215" somewhat confirms that (if you believe what you read on the internet), as well as the head bolts were 7/16" stock bolts with no machining of bosses or anything special on the head. There also wasn't noticeable slop around...

New Owner Learning Curve, Strange Sound

Are these safe to run on a 6.9? I'm sure there's info on the forum about this.. pro's/cons? Ok with the larger diameter holes for the big bolts?

New Owner Learning Curve, Strange Sound

@Thewespaul moving this over here so I dont steal IDIBRONCO's thread. They look like 7.3 rockers, casting numbers off the side I'm working on is 1809215C3, not enough time to look it up tonight, but I'll check it out tomorrow. I punched those plugs out, the block is provisioned for it so I...

    7.3 cooling mod

So I remembered reading something about this "mod" during my research. I've got the heads pulled off of a 6.9 and the heads have plugs in them. I'll attach a picture for reference. I figured out earlier that this motor was rebuilt, now I'm also assuming it had a head job and they put those plugs...
