The bill was almost 5grand the first time and now it develops a problem with the very same component he worked on previously and it's going to cost ANOTHER 4700 to fix it?? Seems sketchy to me. Anybody else have any input as to whether or not a burnt valve could be cause by an improperly...
According to the mechanic the no start was caused by low fuel pressure due to the clogged strainer in the tank. The clogged strainer, according to him, also caused the 3 injectors to be "bad". It's got 240k. Pyro never gets above 1100 and boost never gets above 16-18.
Alright powerstroke God's, I need some advice here.
Took my dad's 2000 f350 7.3 in to a shop for a no start situation and to have trans/diff serviced. The shop said no start was due to 3 bad injectors which were caused by a clogged strainer in the fuel tank. ????? They replaced the 3 "bad...
The picture is of the female end of my extension cord. Not the plug on the truck. Yes it is a replacement. It is rated for 20amps. The cord itself is a 12/3 cord. (12guage wire x3 wires) so I don't believe the extension cord is the issue. I'll check connections and clean stuff up and see if that...
Well my glow plugs are not up to par, I have known they need replacing for a month or so now just have not had the time to do it. I just replaced the starter a little over a month ago and I'm trying to treat it well by plugging in the truck for a short period in the morning. It really helps.
Anyone elses block heater plug get so hot it starts to melt the plug on the extension cord?? Been plugging mine in for about 45mins each morning for the past week or so since nightly temps have been in the low 50s and high 40s. The plug is always warm when I unplug it but I just noticed that the...
That's possible. The passenger side is a bitch to get to though. I wonder why anyone would replace the hard side and neglect the easy side? I just hope there's nothing else wrong that's going to cause them to burn out again prematurely.

I replaced the 4 glow plugs on the driver's side and she fired right up.
Now I'll do the other 4.
Any ideas on why 4 glow plugs, all on the same side of the motor, would go bad all at once? I don't need this happening again so my brain won't shut off about the "why's".

Oh yes, I'm familiar with the need for motorcrafts or berus. Although I did notice the new "motorcraft" plugs I got today said beru on them. Misbranding or is beru making the plugs for motorcraft?

I ended up ohming out the glow plugs individually on the driver's side and they all tested bad. (.2 or less)going to replace the four on that side and if that solves the issue I'll do the other 4. Any other suggestions are more than welcome. I will be installing the new plugs tomorrow after...
I'm sure hours of searching would have helped me a bit on this but I don't have time for all of that since this problem is on my work truck. Here's the details
2000 f350 7.3l 2wd manual trans
Woke up this morning to a crank/no start issue. The truck will turn over and shows smoke from tail...
That's the primer color, it's just rusty metal primer made by Rust-Oleum. Haven't decided on a color but I know I want to use something with some texture to it. I'm still researching different options.
As for the nose cone, I have no idea if it makes a difference or not honestly. The...
Well I woke up yesterday, made coffee, got dressed, and went out to wake the truck up and let her get good and lubricated before I left for work. Much to my surprise (not really) the starter took a steamy sh!t. Was grinding and not turning over fast enough to get the motor fired up. I did some...
Thank you sir! I'll have a peek at oriellys after work. I hear they've got the motorcrafts. Hell, they had a windshield wiper switch in stock(first one they handed me had a broken plastic flange thingy but they had another in good shape )
Thanks buds! The search feature on the forum is kind of junk. You get tons of non related stuff to Wade through even if your search is very specific. I have learned a lot from browsing and searching, and my question seemed on track with the thread and helpful to the OP.

What exactly is this adjusting? You've got me hungry to learn more. Sounds like something I'd be interested in haha
And the red adjustment also, what's that one do?

I was about a tick dick away from buying the solid state gpc and plug set from accurate diesel this afternoon (been having some hard starts) for my 86 6.9. it says to specify spade or bullet type connectors. It also says it's a solid state system instead of electomechanical.
Since I'm such a...
Some forums are full of down-talking and bickering. Not this one, so far I've seen very little nonsense and that's why I chose to post my questions and become a member.
As long as the rain stays in the clouds I'll be doing some leak searching this evening. I'll post up when I find it or if I...
Good thing I'm not terribly mechanically challenged, just not up to par with my diesel abilities. I'm a quick study though and appreciate those who are willing to teach.

IDIBRONCO thanks for explaining that to me. Rear main seal is certainly one spot I plan to check. The area just below valve covers isn't oil soaked, it seems to start around the area of where it would leak if it where coming from the head gasket. Not sure what else could be leaking back there...
I thought it was some redneck masterpiece (which I'm totally cool with as long as it works. I've had many of my own jerry-rigged schemes that functioned perfectly) but from what I've read online and heard on here they just don't market this setup anymore. It needs tweaking but I've got to get my...
Good eye!!! You're right. I replaced all the belts when I got it and haven't re-tightened after they seated. Running a business and doing the single dad thing is pretty crazy at times but I'll do it tonight!
