Any good IDI repair shops in Detroit?

I’ve got a pretty bad chuff on the rear passenger side cylinder. I’m thinking I can pull the engine then the head, but am looking for a shop locally that would be able to install new guides if that turns out to be the issue. Any recommendations? Also, if someone has a recommendation for a shop...

    Rear Injector Higher Than Others?

Updating to close this thread out. The advice everyone gave was spot on, thank you for helping out even though it should have been obvious Haha. I pulled one washer out with the old injector, but apparently the previous owner had double washered that injector, so I used a long bolt to thread...

    Rear Injector Higher Than Others?

I fished one out with the old injector, then pulled the new one back out when it was sitting high and poked around to see if maybe they had been doubled up but that didn’t seem to be the case.

    Rear Injector Higher Than Others?

I recently replaced all of my injectors, and the rear drivers side injector seems to be slightly higher than all of the others. Either that or it just isn't sitting as low in the head casting. All of them are torqued to 35 lb/ft, and the truck runs great so I'm wondering if it just has to do...

1986 F250 6.9 IDI - no crank even if relay is jumped

I agree that batteries sound like the culprit, but if those are for sure good then there are a couple of steps you can take prior to replacing the starter. Try barring the engine over by hand. If the engine turns over, I would then check the power wire to the starter and the ground. A voltage...

    Burning out glow plugs

That’s a good suggestion, I do have the timing advanced slightly to cure a white smoke issue I had when I got it. The only reason I keep going back to electrical is because of the several times the glow plug light in the dash stayed on with the switch off.

    Burning out glow plugs

That was a great suggestion, and honestly something I hadn't even thought of. I went out and checked, and the factory controller has been removed completely. There is a wire running from the drivers side battery positive to the momentary switch in the dash that then runs back out to the hot...

    Burning out glow plugs

I'll have to doublecheck, but I believe it has the controller replacement kit installed which has a relay similar to Ford starter relays. The big round unit that normally mounts to the fender.

    Burning out glow plugs

This has probably already been answered somewhere, but when I search the results are nothing to do with the specific issue I am having. Truck is a 1984 F-250 with the 6.9 IDI and manual transmission. Only modifications are aftermarket air cleaner, slightly advanced timing, and a momentary...
